Expectations for 2014-15 season? Time to end the sucess/failure debate for all

For me it's once the manager has had a chance to build the team he wants. We've had midfield problems for YEARS and no striker worth his place since Drogba left. Now we actually have something approaching a decent midfield (Matic) and hopefully a proper striker (Costa). The squad has had a year under Jose to learn what he wants and they'll hopefully go on from there.

Fair enough, I guess it takes more than a year for the squad of players to learn how to park the bus & win games

I'm always amazed by the way people who dislike this club take a few instances of us 'parking the bus' and suggest we do it a lot. They did it in 2012 as well.

Bravo.

Never said I disliked the club....just not a fan of parking the bus tactics.

Which we've employed how many times? Try watching the games and making your own mind up rather than listening to twats on twitter talk shit. We've 'parked the bus' in less than 5% of our games this season.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story ;)

I expect to see

  • the signing of a true DLP, preferably some one like Modric
  • the end of DL and Ramires as midfield duo
  • a true striker with a good close-control of the ball who can actually play the game of football (not just a bully)
  • Azpi back at his natural postion and the signing of a good LB (Shaw if possible)
  • the return of, atleast, one of our loanees
  • Chelsea being either the CL or PL champion

Ok so next time we go to the home of a club who are top of the league, on an 11 game winning run, on the verge of winning the league title and who are destroying everybody in sight let's open the game up, leave spaces behind the midfield and defence for their best players to do what they do best and get blown away!! But then guess it doesn't matter if we get done 4/5 as long as we play decent football right?

I feel this is a thread that we may post only after the summer window transfer concludes.

Exactly.

I think, in general we can all agree the the league is the priority, but IMO we'll have to see whether or not Jose gets the players he needs.

I understand why we have been playing defensive in some games this season, due to a lack of a top class striker.

However, hopefully next season we will have one,

So hopefully next season we play better football, like the 6-0 against Arsenal was such a good game to watch, the way we played, got forward quickly.

Hopefully we get a trip to Wembley - either the league cup final or FA Cup semis/final

And I will be happy with a top 3 finish in the league as long as we are properly involved in the title race. Obviously I would like us to win it, but it's such a tough league and just one result can change everything.

People are complaining about parking the bus but neglecting the far bigger issue which is our non existent build up play and inability to break down parked defenses. Our general play is like watching a paint dry. incredibly painful and frustrating to watch. atleast when we park the bus, it's usually done against teams that are superior to us to get a result.

The other 85% of the matches were we aren't parking the bus is what needs massive massive improvement.

One interesting fact: Mourinho will be the first manager to not get the axe after a trophyless season under Roman. Can you imagine Mourinho keeping his job after TWO trophy-less seasons?

Judging by Jose's comments today I predict Guardiola as head coach for 15/16 season.

If Jose cant win anything in 3 years at Chelsea, I doubt Pep can. Besides he'd still be Bayern's coach then.

No thanks, fuck Guardiola. If he comes to Chelsea I won't even watch the games. Way too boring to watch imo, if Mourinho gets sacked try and get Klopp. I want us to play like Dortmund.
