kellzfresh 7,229
There's no chance in hell we'd get both for 45 million ^^ Besides I'd pay 20 million to not have that cuntfaced croatian play for us.By summer, kroos has 6 months left on his contract till january. That alone reduces his value by half = 20milMandzukic = 20milI know mandzukic is not playing his best this season(even though he has 2 goals and 2 assists in the last 2 games) even ibrahimovic struggled with pep's style at barcelona.Mandzukic was perfect for bayern last season in the pressing fast counter system we are trying to play. He is the best header of the ball in the game imo. Easy for ivanovic crosses to connect with his height. He has also played with similar players to what we have.Ribery - HazardMuller - oscarRobben - salah/willianMartinez - MaticAnd more importantly, he has been replaced by lewandoski for pep's system.I know he is no suarez or cavani, but what if rooney signs new contract, liverpool gets champs league, psg threatens to bid for hazard if we go for cavani, benzema becomes unavailable??Who else can we buy except costa and mandzukic??This situation is 100% possible

Pacquiao 1,834
If we are going to sign another CM it should be Vidal or Pogba or Gundogan if he can get over his Injury problems! Kroos really wouldn't add much to our way of playing!

Pizy 18,961
Only an insane offer to Bayern or an offer to triple his wages would probably get him. He's going nowhere. Hope Moyes flails around all summer with Kroos like he did with Fabregas and doesn't get him.

BloodIsBlue 291
Who else can we buy except costa and mandzukic??This situation is 100% possibleWe have Lukaku and we'll probably still have Torres kicking around somewhere. I've been thinking it would be smart to block Liverpool's backup to Suarez leaving for months now, Luis Muriel. The more you look at the situations behind our striker targets Suarez, Rooney, Cavani, Mandzukic, Costa or Balotelli the transfer look increasingly fictitious. Lukaku alone will feel like a new striker signing so for us to spend big might be too passionate and rash of a decision. If we are going to sign another CM it should be Vidal or Pogba or Gundogan if he can get over his Injury problems! Kroos really wouldn't add much to our way of playing!I agree with the idea that Kroos isn't the right type of player for the system taking hold here. The other three seem perfect but not really possible. I don't this club to be the guinea pigs, finding out if he can recover from this injuiry. Vidal or Pogba would be perfect, I only see Pogba possibly leaving but for a ridiculous fee I wouldn't be interested in. Vidal will be impossible to pry away from Juve. My choice would be Fredy Guarin.

BloodIsBlue 291
But we need a top class finisher next season to make us serious contenders for the champs lge next season. I don't want us to sign anymore stop gaps again. im not so sure of luis munrialWhy? Of the group of targets that we can get Mandzukic and Costa are the most probable, we can't be so sure they will perform and Costa is going to be a least 40m in the summer. Di Natale says he's a champion so he's not going to be a nobody. You sort through all the 20m striker options in Europe and he shines brighter than the rest. My assumption is based on the guess that when Lukaku comes back he scores a few more goals. Muriel I wouldn't consider a stop gap, for the time being he would worth it if only to keep Lukaku on his toes with some competition. It could end up being a lucrative signing as well. Guarin is totally a stop-gap signing but not in a bad way at all, by the time his contract is up I think more young eggs will be ripe.As for Guarin. Firstly he is probably available which is more than one can usually say. Secondly he is that rare CM/DM player that we have in Ramires but who can shoot very well. If we are getting rid of Mikel he is the kind of player that we can actually use. He's the kind of player you can trust to start or to perform as a substitute and he provides immediate depth. He plays the DM/CM/AM roles all very well. He's also the type of player that is highly sought after in the BPL. If we had signed him in January along with Matic I think we wouldn't feel as wobbly right now, or at least Ramires' form would not have as large a contribution in that wobble (I'm not extremely worried but the toughest part of the season is only just beginning). If we do go through with signing a 40-70m striker signing and they flop like Fernando, it'll be dejavu all over again and another dark-age for the club (a bit of an exaggeration I know). If we keep the entire window's spending limit to that range (of 40-70m) for a couple players it will be much healthier for the future for the club. Viper22 2,418
Must admit I got all giddy like a child watching Kroos tear Arsenal a new one today. Don't mind if he doesn't come to us if he keeps spanking our PL rivals like that whenever they enter the same stadium as him xD

We keep the entire window's spending limit to that range (of 40-70m) and it will be much healthier for the future for the club. Not to nitpick, but Costa has a £32M release clause. Mandzukic would be available on the cheap I reckon, Bayern don't seem to rate him that highly and the arrival of Lewandowski just confirms that Pep wants to change what kind of player he wants his striker to be and remember they only paid like £10M for him or so. (By on the cheap I mean cheap for a top team like us - £20-£30M). Lukaku will be a great 2nd choice striker for next season but he's not ready to lead our line just yet.Personally not over keen on Guarin, although you do argue a compelling case. Obviously price and wages dependent but I'd personally prefer Koke, Vidal, Barkley or Gundogan (if he comes back from his horrific injury as good as he was before it, if so, definitely my first choice). As for the £40-70M flop thing you have all of the history to back you up (and maybe i'm just being an optimist) but I keep thinking that we've had our bad luck/stupidity with Shevchenko, Crespo and Torres. Just got a good feeling that the next one can be that star we have been looking for in ages. Finally, signing a striker for cheap won't make any difference to us if they flop like an expensive purchase. Yes there might be less pressure on them due to the lower price tag, but if they're going to lead the line for Chelsea, then it doesn't matter how much they cost, they're still going to be under the same insatiable scrutiny from Blue fans, pundits and media alike. And Luiz is the best CB in the world or one of(according to people on here) Rafa Benitez: 'Hes one of the best central defenders in the world, says Benitez.I was coaching him and I can tell you hes one of the best in the world, because he has everything. You just have to manage him properly - and then he is one of the best in the world.'Jose Mourinho: 'For me, Luiz is a central defender. I think he has an important quality for the football we want to play, which is to build. He's comfortable using the ball from the back.''In this aspect, he's very important and different from the other central defenders. He can improve, everybody can. From a defensive point of view, he can be much more effective, much more solid. But, for me, the potential is incredible, amazing.'
Chelsea Legend 11 4,062
Why is it that whenever people talk about a striker the first words are "He'd be cheaper than so and so"? There is a reason why he's cheaper!Mandzukic is similar to Gomez in that he gets a ton of chances with the team and league he's in...I want a footballer who can do more than stick in the odd 5 yd strike. OneMoSalah 8,886
Lol he was good but you remember Arsenal had 10 men for however long and didn't try and pressure the ball at all so he had the space and time to play those passes. Sure hes a great player I'd take him but not just because of tonight where he played well against 10 men trying to not pressure the ball...
