Isn't Khedira more of a defensive midfielder?

Yeah, that's where I'm assuming Kroos is going to play which is why I don't really understand the move.

@Excalibur100 lacks technique? he is technically one of the best midfielders in the world and playing as a DLP is his best position (like he did with Heynckes for example quite some times) .He will fit well in their 4-3-3 I think and can give more options and flexibility. if he comes, some players will leave though (di maria? khedira? illara?).

Yes, the transfer does not make much sense. Kroos is no better than Isco or Modric. And he is not a defensive midfielder.

Sorry for my awful english.

@Toli

Well, he has a great long pass, but ... what else? He lacks technique with the ball.

Again, sorry for my awful english.

Kroos longball, lobs, through balls and set pieces are all very good.

Also, his ability to strike it outside the box as well.

However, a few things he is not very good at is defense, high press, shielding the ball/handling the press, dribbling, speed/agility, etc

I think RM can masked these deficiencies if he start with Khedira and drops Xabi for another hard worker like Di maria.

TBH, anyone can see its Thiago Pep wants to lead Bayern, not Kroos.

Khedira or Di Maria will be sold. Makes sense if Khedira is sold because Kroos is a better passer, not as wasteful with the ball and it allows Modric to still have more an influence further up the park as well. People saying this doesn't make sense for Real it does really, replacing a inferior technical player who plays in that holding position and signing a more technical player who can play any central midfield role, as a 6, 8 or 10, in a team where they are trying to play more open attacking football. Really good signing for 25M euros too.

Let me get this straight, Real wanted Ramires, we declined so instead they sign Kroos? they are completely different players, to me it seemed like Carlo wanted to add the pace and legs of Ramires in the middle, so it just seems weird that they now buy Kroos, when he obviously doesn't offer that.

its probably a Perez buy, not a Carlo one....

It's a lot. And it is very important for a midfielder of possession, i believe. Xavi Hernandez, for example. He has endless resources. That allows him to keep the ball and create opportunities for his teammates. Because he attracts opponents. It allows you to have a high percentage of possession in the deepest part of the field. Kroos instead passes and outputs in the defensive half.

Yeah guys lets just stick with Tiago-Ramires-Mikel :D. Some fans will say they still have potential to become world class.

Because those guys are starting for us game in game out right? Do you really think Kroos will come here for cover? Funny how you've conveniently left out our best CMs in that little line up...

We're stacked in every position Kroos plays, there's no need at all for him.

those are backups and pretty good backups. dont want to be spending a f**kload on a backup unless we plan to sell Oscar, which would be a horrid idea.

first choice in mid - Oscar, Fabregas, Matic. backup: Ramires, Mikel, Tiago, Van Ginkel . oh theres Chalobah, Loftus Cheek, Lewis Baker as 8th,9th,10th options.

now if we sold Ramires AND Mikel then could see us going for a mid but Jose said Ramires forms part of the stability that is required for the team next season, so basically ruled out his sale. As for Mikel, he said only a couple of days back he wants to see the remainder of his contract out (3 years) and wants to stay even longer!
