It’s the culture/environment around the club. Players know that if things go sour the manager usually gets the flack. It’s poisonous.

Well, if this is true and Conte wants to leave on a high (I highly doubt it), then he needs to drop every player from the match-day squad, who he thinks will not be committed to the game. 

And it's not like Willian has keep his form from two months ago, so won't be that of a loss anyway.

The reality is, at clubs players (especially the best one's) are 10× more important than manager's, it's harsh but it's true. Fergie was one of the very few real exceptions to the rule.

Never had 10 assist or 10 goals in PL  season despite playing regularly, still acting like a prima donna. An ambitious club needs much better attacking players than him.
