Jase 43,479
that is why the fault belong to ramires. Atletico players are leveled with ramires so ft9 had to maintain his speed too. ramires cross was fast and unfortunately way too far from torres.edit: already watched the replay. yep his positioning was so bad, but ramires pass was worse than his positioningThe point is, had Torres busted his gut to get forward quickly, he would have given Ramires a proper option to pass the ball to but because he didn't, Ramires the brainfarted with his use of the ball. You can see Torres was almost half jogging into that huge space in front of him rather than looking to get there quickly and/or at least put himself in a good position. And I don't think it's about positioning here but rather just switching the brain on and getting there!
DH1988 1,348
Looked sharp yesterday to be honest, fed on scraps but made the most of what he got.Frustrating game to be involved in.

lionsden 4,689
He did well last night by his own standard and considering the way the team was set out to play and the poor services he had to work with all night. solid 7.5/10 performance. The Chels 2,502
Well there we have it guys... According to Michael Owen and the many retweeters, our strikers aren't bad at all. Indeed 3 years' worth of assessing Torres' performances is completely void because we never attack; we set up the way we did against Atletico every game and Torres never has any service or chances to score. yuvala, The Skipper, Jype and 1 other
The Skipper 20,609
Not really. Too keen to dribble with the ball when at times he should have passed it Pass it to who exactly? He had no support, he had to dribble and try and create something. He won us two free kicks in decent areas but because we were just poor with our set pieces yesterday we failed to capitalise. [evil grin] 1 million pounds!!!Seriously, no I mean the above offer is dead serious. The only striker in our squad that we could sell - as in someone would actually pay us to sign him - is Ba and for around 7m. That minus Torres absurd wages over another 2+ years...Torres' performances are consistently void regardless whether we attack or not. He does reach a certainly form at times (not long enough to regain confidence and goals though), which almost reminds ppl how good he used to be, then he picks up an injury and vanishes again.Based on what Torres has been saying, and his probable unwillingness to leave, would not be surprised if we give him the Malouda treatment next season. I don't deny that there was hardly any service given to him and his drive to take on players with the dribbling helped to bring us up the pitch but there were also times when he did do that, support arrived in 2-3 players and he could have passed it. Instead, he was too keen to do everything by himself. It was good that he look to dribbled past players, taking them on to give us some attacking impetus but I was just faulting his decision making on some occasions. DDA 9,937
He was pretty poor, didn't ever look like scoring. I am just praying for another moment like against Barca where he gets a great goal and sends us to the final.A girl can dream Wait, you're a girl.... what!Howyouuudoing ? ;-)
Roquila 1,335
On this day 3 years ago, Torres scored his first Chelsea goal! After 3 years he went on an amazing run and scored loads of goals, 30(or something like that). The_Flash

Stats 7,142
I am not his biggest fan but please don't tell me people are giving him slack for his performance against Atletico? We set up utterly defensive and did not do much to win the game and when we did actually go forward he was the only one who looked dangerous. Won us a couple free kicks IIRC with his decent runs. The attacking support or team set up would be difficult for any striker in our team for that game to standout but he done better than I expected rather than looking like a complete ghost. Got to give credit when it is deserved. You would not stop hearing about it from some people had Costa had put in a similar performance in our utterly defensive set up. The Skipper 20,609
Torres is the only player that can get praised for the smallest of thing's.You know I'm no Torres supporter of any sort pal, but I find the fact that people are blasting him quite absurd considering he did okay. He wasn't great or even good he was merely decent, wasn't bad as some are trying to make it out to be... Doesn't mean I or others are trying to praise him! Read costa thread, u'll know I'm all over him. But saying torres is useless or just did small things against Atletico, now that is hilarious Redondo
