The type of feature anyone can make up (which they have done before for players at Chelsea) with zero evidence and quotes, just trying to put 2+2 together when watching Torres. When he was scoring the goals prior to the international break, it was all 'Torres is back!' headline and everything was positive and after just poor game against QPR, it's all negative headlines once again. Mufassir08 2,400
I think it could be a win-win situation for us because either torres is gonna score goals for fun for us or we will sign falcao in january.
gary gordon 1,777
I'd like to wonder where we would be had we no signed him and still kept Drogba... OH wait..... we are top of the table!! Honestly, Torres had fuck-all service the other day. Our fucked up midfield and wingers let him down. Nobody else..

Blue Armour 4,439
Torres has a decent record against the Italians, as seen from the Euros. As much as I prefer Sturridge to start (because of his ability to drop deep and set up attacks), I'd like to see how the Spaniard fares against the Italian champions. Hopefully he can get some kind of service though...

TorontoChelsea 4,064
I think it will almost certainly be torres plus cash for falcao and i think falcao+studge would be good enough for this season.Don't see why Athletico would do that. I am sure Chelsea's valuation of Torres will be higher than most teams would pay for him. If he struggles until January, how much is anyone going to pay for him? 15M? Van Persie just went for 24M and he's only year older than Torres and much better. Also, Torres us on what 170K/week? No way a team that is struggling to break even is going to pay that kind of wage. Torres is the innocent one here as always...Honestly, I'm not defending Torres. To be honest, for the right price, i would sell him today and risk half the season playing Sturridge alone. I just think without decent service, how can he score? We were honestly dominated by QPR. I still feel sick from that game. How we can dominate them a year before with 9 men, yet can't get a decent shot on goal with 11.
BOSS 372
I hope Torres proves his worth tomorrow because if he does not, then i would prefer Sturridge in the starting XI. I still have a feeling that he is not ok for some reason tbh.And by that i mean mentally.

Popular Post! nullabletype 987 Posted September 18, 2012 Popular Post! Share Posted September 18, 2012 Yes yes. Blame the wingers. Blame the midfielders. Blame everyone else. Torres is the innocent one here as always...It's fair though. Torres may well have seen his poorest footballing days here at Chelsea, and honestly, at this point I would take somebody else over him too (because he doesn't fit). That however doesn't change the fact that our style doesn't suit him. People seem to have this daft idea that because the excuse of "no service" is old that it some how becomes redundant. And no, simply naming names like, Hazard and Mata, which so many fans like to do, doesn't equal actual service provided but rather describes where we expect the service to come from.As that Daily Mail article rightly pointed out, just over 2/3 - 56 of 81 - of his Liverpool goals were delivered via defense splitting passes. How often do we split defenses? Exactly. When you look at how many goals he's actually scored, allowing for the lack of defense splitting passes that he needs and that we don't provide, he's scored just about as many as you'd realistically expect him to.The other thing people need to understand is that our squad really isn't much stronger than it was last season. We might well have bought plenty of players, but most of those players have yet to get any significant game time, if any at all, with Hazard as the obvious exception. So most of our new signings have yet to make their assumed impact, and as such, we're playing basically the same team as last year.Lets not also forget that we're seeing players used in different roles than they're used to. Ramires - a player I love - being entirely wasted on the wing were he can't play. Lampard playing a more defensive role where he offers next to nothing. To expect Torres to bang them in for fun - based on how we currently play - would be to expect him to carry the whole team. The complaints he gets after a game where the entire team is gash is ridiculous and completely disproportionate to the rest of the players (although so is much of his praise). Our problems aren't all about Torres, they're squad deep.To end, I don't make any unnecessary excuses for him. He's one of a few players who our fans constantly whine about when it's really quite clear that the majority of the team and tactics are really the problem. What I suspect is going to disappoint a lot of folks on here - and I'll happily eat crow if I'm wrong - is if and when we buy a player, Falcao for example, he'll come along and probably not score either because we don't play football that's even close to that of Atletico. couris, Madmax, RamiCFC9 and 2 others
