Badboy 1,526
I don't actually think he's lost his pace, its just his confidence. He should be hitting the ball first time more often.

He should be hitting the ball first time more often.Mate he has definitely lost his pace. Check out Torres circa 2006-2008 and then watch a game with current day Torres, the difference is staggering. Its isn't unexpected though, given the amount of problems he has had with injuries, in particular his knees, it has destroyed that extra yard of killer pace he had. Popular Post! Peace. 4,352 Posted January 22, 2012 Popular Post! Share Posted January 22, 2012 The worst part of his play is his touch on the ball, especially the first touch. I remember two situations, yesterday, where he could have be on a one-on-one with the goalkeeper if he had controled the ball correctly. Plus he loses the ball many times due to the fact he pushes it too far. Sheva., Henrique, CHOULO19 and 2 others
TacticalBlues 2,817
Watching City. Aguero is what Torres should of been for us. I try not to get pissed off when I see the brilliant Silva and Aguero destroying all before them.
Kez 2,727
He must be sold in the summer if there is no improvement from now until the end of the season, for the benefit of the team, Torres' & the fans sanity. DDA

BlueLion. 21,491
It was a joke. But I am getting fed up. If you look back at the older posts, I was actually really supportive of him at the start of the season. But the patience is wearing thin and half the time I just want to call him a fucking joke because that's what that miss yesterday was. It cost us 2 points. Yes, the other individuals played poorly as well, but he had the best chance, and he missed it. So the blame lies on him. It's a hard life being a striker.imo it would just be easier not having him in the team any more. It's too much work. Everyone is Torres Torres Torres. And he doesn't do what he's supposed to. If he doesn't come good (and by good I mean score 10+ goals) by the end of the season, sell him and start over.Absolutely. My patience is worn thin now. Time to go to Plan C and give Lukaku the minutes or play Sturridge through the middle.
Amblève. 4,995
The worst part of his play is his touch on the ball, especially the first touch.Exactly. It shouldn't take a player of his quality (at least, I think he hasn't lost his whole worldclass quality) so long, to shot a ball on goal, with just a few metres between him and the net.. DDA 9,938
Well there's one thing for sure! We can as a club, the millions of fans can say we stuck by Torres and supported him the whole way! We have treated him pretty fucking well if you ask me considering his performances since being here! I think this problem (Torres) has to become a past memory come the summer. If he doesn't start scoring every game from now til the summer break then it's time to move on. Yes it's a shame but the reality is as much as we love Torres and wish him to succeed, if hes not cutting the mustard then he is simply not cutting the mustard. We need goals to win games and we have given Torres the chance to provide exactly that and he just hasn't come up with the goods! Such a shame yeah but life goes on and we must move on this summer! francozola
LondonPride1905 236
One miss, we tear him up. The fact we won the last 3 matches thanks to him..nothing much said(after extreme bench time)? In some weird way, I feel Torres is still there. He'll be back for us I know it ! tmessy

francozola 2,040
Hate it when these newspapers/statistics sites add in some random person just to emphasize how pathetic the others have been. Ever since Howard's fluke goal, it's been him. The joke is funny the first time. Not after seeing it everywhere. And for an actual newspaper to print it...... sigh
Fernando 6,585
I think paying 50 mill plus 150k wages for Torres, proves there is no risk in spending 20 mill for William...

manpe 10,861
Can't wait for Torres to score 2 goals, so we can jump every blog and forum and newspaper there is and claim our bragging rights of our nr. 9 being a more prolific goalscorer than Howard.. now that would be something! If that paper doesn't print it, then it's just double standards.

TacticalBlues 2,817
Looked good today again but still pulls wide too often. I know he's lacking a good source of service but he needs to try and be more effective in his work rate and maybe a little more static. If he tries a game where he restrains himself from going wide, maybe he'll find our ineffective providers actually being able to give him the service a striker needs. If he's constantly on the wings he's only going to be watching the balls fly into the box. fAnta
Popular Post! manpe 10,861 Posted January 28, 2012 Popular Post! Share Posted January 28, 2012 well, he tried, can't fault him for that (especially in 1st half).. but the whole team was lacklustre and you can practically feel the desperation when he goes deep or wide to play behind or next to himself (except there aren't 2 of him on the pitch, so he tries to do the work we lack in midfield). We need somebody who is able to beat a player or two and cause danger in the box, Torres is the only who tries it, well him and Luiz but the latter doesn't count because he's a defender and rarely gets a chance. As things stand now, we have players who are more satisfied to play the ball back to safety instead of trying to create something out of nothing.. even Sturridge and Mata do that now, turn over and pass back. Literally, the only one who I see trying to put some effort into trying to create something, is Torres.. except he doesn't succeed at that very often and doing it alone won't mount to nothing. sLOVEnian Blue, Fernando, LDN Blue and 5 others
manpe 10,861
I came to a theory, which may or may not be true. Anyway... what if Anelka was in a similar situation as Torres? He came here as a pure striker but ended up being anything but, basically. He is also a player similar to Torres, who needs through balls and stuff like that to score. So he started going to midfield and wings to compensate, but with the difference that it suited him so he stayed there permanently. Currently we are seeing similar happening to Torres, he is more in midfield and wings than in centre, but he doesn't seem to be exceling in those positions. I've seen suggestions here to try Torres in CAM position, which happened with Anelka aswell. Why it hasn't happened to Drogba is because he doesn't rely only on service, he plays target man so well setting up others and scoring himself... those 2 aren't target men, but we play as if they were. That's why I think it's crucial that Drogba leaves in summer if we are serious about this joga bonito shit, it's the only way to stop the team subconsciusly relying on a big target man who can take care of himself. Carlo apparently has my back with that. SeB
