Mata is the only one who may need to be rested atm... As we all know after the newcastle game we have the super cup game vs athletico madrid and then an extra 2 weeks which is more than enough for a rest... Also RDM is in the prime position to know how Mata etc is doing and knows a lot more than we do about his status on things... If mata is fine to play then, we may as well for these 2 games then we can start rotating... Cahill will be in for luiz which isn't really a negative for the side as either one of them is more than capable in our first team, and Ivan Cahill Terry Cole should really be solid. If there is any doubt on mata this will be the game to rest him as we will need him vs newcastle which will be an extremely tough game with the likes of Ba, Cisse and Cabaye all fit.

No. The season is a marathon, not a sprint. The idea is to rest your players early so they don't ever get tried in the first place, and then throughout the season so they can continue to stay fresh. Waiting until they actually get fatigued to give them rest is just dumb.

Obviously but the point is, it's only the start of the season and with 1 week break before we face Atletico Madrid next week after this Saturday, I don't see the need to rotate players for today, certainly not a lot anyway.

Think Mata will be rested. Cahill will come in for Luiz already and maybe Bertrand being replaced by Ramires...

That should be enough. Perhaps one of Mikel or Lampard will be rested - most likely Lampard who featured for England last week also.
