Daniel Sturridge

He can find those games at Liverpool, while Falcao rips apart the EPL for us...

I feel he might need to leave the club anyway to realise his full potential, so you might be right in that case. He'd be a star at Liverpool IMO.

So? It's like saying Ronaldo dwarfs Hazard. Your point?

My point is that very few people care if Sturridge will go on to be star somewhere else. You're acting like we will heavily regret letting him go and we sure as hell won't with the amount of class strikers available in the world.

Why are you comparing Sturridge to one of the best strikers in the world though? Like some of us here view him as part of that elite group when we obviously don't?

Which goes back to the original predicate - it's a figment in your imagination of how you think everyone seems to overrate Sturridge - no one here's claiming he's as good as Falcao or anything - people just want to see someone with decent potential given a fair chance and that does not equate to him bring overrated.

Sure we can go out and buy a world class striker but how in God's name does that affect Sturridge who isn't even the supposed number one striker? You should be comparing Falcao with someone who's meant to be his calibre.

It's like saying Real Madrid shouldn't have cared about Callejon because they've got Benzema and Higuain there already but they still found a space for him in the squad where he was given quite a few minutes last season. That's all people are asking for with Sturridge - he's deserved more than what he's had at this club with the performances he's displayed. Going to Bolton then being top scorer there and then coming back to CFC and scoring more than Drogba and Torres combined in the league even though he wasn't even as favoured under RDM as he was with AVB?

You can't really call him overrated because every time he's been given an extended run in any team he's been, he's performed. Why sell him when he can obviously develop into an excellent second choice striker even?

He doesn't want to be second choice striker. So automatically he goes into contention against the likes of Falcao, Cavani etc who will probably be our first choice soon. Your theory is automatically invalid as long as Sturridge wants to be first choice and nothing but first choice CF.

I would think you would not buy into such crap, there is no quote of Sturridge ever saying he expects to be first choice striker. There is plenty of quotes about him wanting to have a chance playing in this position - but unlike Torres he doesn't expect that position to be given to him without actually earning it.

And Sturridge is also better than our current dogshit number nine, so until we get a decent CF he should get from now til Jan MINIMUM to prove himself. Anything but that is a disgrace.

But then it's the Torres show from here on in isn't it. Let's play that bag of wank instead.

He scored almost as many at Bolton as Torres has he whole Chelsea career yet we back Torres cause he's a much player isn't he?

Your point isn't valid because Sturridge DESERVES to be first choice striker rought now today at our club.

I'm not talking about right now. I'm talking about after we get a good Striker, so your point is invalid.

Well this may sound very. very crazy but :

Benitez has no time to experiment, he's given 6 months and in that period he needs to WIN GAMES and fast.Anyone else thinking Sturridge reminds of young Torres when he came from Spain ? Rafa also had almost 2 years to analyze players and teams, won't be too surprising if he came to the conclusion that Torres is obviously quite past it.I wouldn't be surprised if Sturridge becomes our number 1 striker, atleast till January when a future Falcao deal looks inevitable.

p.s. If Benitez is to stay he needs to do something marquee with the squad, example is RDM when changed Ramires and Mata's positions and that Bertrand starting in the CL final.

He is still Selfish. His finishing is nothing special and he has been overrated because many fans have been desperately trying to find an alternative to Torres. Frankly, I find it absolutely astonishing and unfathomable how you cannot see that he is overrated. It would be good if he stayed but he doesn't want to be 2nd/3rd striker so his future is elsewhere.

Funny. You dont see a differance in his finishing now and last season? Could it perhaps have something to do with the ammount of playtime he had then and now? Maybe?

Also, overrated? There is a differance in being overrated and wanting to see anyone else than Torres up front. And Danny does have talent. No one is saying that he's an absolute world class striker. But this guy needs more playtime.

Its funny though, had he scored 1-2 goals against Juve everyone would of gone crazy, talked about how well he moved etc. But the only thing you guy see is what he didnt do (score). His movement was really good, he looked like a striker (nothing like Torres).

No. I read Rafa said he, Lamps and JT are unavailable..

Speaking of which, if Lampard, Cole, and Sturridge all go, we could be in real trouble for homegrown players. We'll have Moses, Terry, Cahill, Turnbull, and Bertrand. Since 8 of your 25 players have to be homegrown, that means Chelsea would have to add 3 homegrown players in the summer. (if we had Cech, Courtois, Turnbull, Ivanovic, Azpi, Cahill, Terry, Luiz, Bertrand, Mikel, Romeu, Ramires, Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Moses, Marin Torres, De Bruyne, Lukaku, that means the final 3 players would all have to qualify for homegrown status which leaves very little room for maneuvering. Even if you replace Torres with someone else, the situation doesn't change). I wouldn't be surprised to see Cortouis back loaned to Atletico and Blackman as the third goalie and if Cole goes Chelsea making a bid for Leighton Baines.

So if we let Lamps, Cole and Danny go we can only acquire 2 players that are not homegrown? But we really don't need to let Cole and Danny go...just another case of our board creating needless headaches for everyone.
