No....the reason Danny isn't playing is because Torres has been scoring goals. 2 goals in 4 league games to be exact. The Torres support annoys me but your not looking at it fairly. He might provide us that element of surprise upfront against Juventus as a CF. However, it may also count against us because his selfishness play may cost us as well as his relatively lack of experience in big CL games like this. Chiellini, Barzagli and Bonucci are not too fast players, and Danny's speed could be a big advantage. He also will fight for his place if he starts, and Torres need to be benched for a few games IMO. To label Danny as the number 1 striker really makes no senseI do look at fairly, i have given him credit for improving but he doensn't look convincing as a number 1 forward of a club challenging for honours, if he proves me wrong i will credit him again and take as many "i told you so's" people want to throw at me.I will offer nothing but my full support for Torres and just because i think Danny at this moment in time should play won't change that, i support every Chelsea player but i will still give my opinion. What has Danny done to warrant being the number 9 whatsoever? I'm pretty sure yesterday is the first time he's actually come on as a CF so your saying he's done enough to warrant the CF spot based on that ten minutes? Don't make me laugh mate. He's done enough to warrant a starting place in some of our next few games to see how he does over a 90 minute game. RDM needs to put him in in the striker role and let Danny's game do the talking. I'd be disappointed if he's only getting 15-20 minutes a game and I wouldn't blame Sturridge a bit if he wants to leave. Share Posted September 18, 2012 Sturridge has the potential to become a very good striker but he only will do so here when he gets time. Torres might be like needy girlfriend always demanding attention from everyone but when he is not in form and his confidence is already so low we can just as well replace him and at least cut short the clubs losses. Torres had his chances time and time again. Face it he will never become his old self again. He might become a decent striker again but there's no way we should end the season with him. Sturridge has the potential to become a very good striker but he only will do so here when he gets time and I don't give a fuck about a striker whose best days are long gone and will never return adn who can only "perform" when his labile mental constitution allows him. We have a young, hungry striker who is raring to go and will only learn and improve when he place. i won't risk the stay and the development of a striker for the future for the possible confidence-depending comeback of a striker of the past.
