Special Juan 28,141
He will ever ever reach the heights of Messi and Ronaldo, never. In fact he shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as them. Insane numbers of goals, match winners time after time, consistent and world class, Hazard isn't any of them. Stick him in the bracket below but don't belittle Messi and Ronaldo by mentioning Hazard at the same time. Maybe, but look at the teammates those two players had, they have been immensely helped by playing with some of the greatest players of their generation and some i would argue are the best at their position ever. On the other hand with Hazard we are talking about okayish players like Mata, even at his peak he could barley get a game for Spain NT. When you look at their careers on the NT, Hazard actually compares quite well the achievement of Ronaldo and Messi, and who by the way still has a good amount of years to even surpass them. Bosnian Blue 2,471
He played brilliantly at the beginning of the season. Scoring, assisting for fun. Everyone here and Sarri were praising him. Now he moves him to centre-forward and tries to turn him into Salah or Mertens, suddenly the story is completely different. Very poor management. Not saying he is as good as Messi and Ronaldo, but give them some of Eden's teammates and see how he does. Messi is already showing it in the national team. I don't blame him at all for what is happening to us atm. Hamilton

The first opinion I'm going to give in a moment is controversial although I have no idea why. The second probably isn't. To me they both seem like statements of the obvious. - Players of Eden's age don't improve. - All players are inconsistent.

Shame really Until, and unless, we dramatically change the status of our club, we won't attract, never mind hold on to, players at the level of Messi or Ronaldo. Eden is the peak level we can realistically aim for. If the traits you state above are accurate, then they are also the things which have allowed us to hold on to him for so long. We should be grateful for them. DYC. and Johnnyeye

If Eden is not a leader, he can still be a difference maker for our team. Maurizio's job is to put in a system that allows Eden to do what he's good at, and then surround him with a supporting cast to make the most of it. Popular Post! OneMoSalah 8,886 Posted January 23, 2019 Popular Post! Share Posted January 23, 2019 Again Sarri is not wrong. Eden doesnt inspire me completely as somebody who is demanding enough to push himself, yet alone 10 other players. He is more a talismanic figure as opposed to a captain. I would say theres a difference bit that's just me. Some would say they could be similar. Meh. Maurizio's job is to put in a system that allows Eden to do what he's good at, and then surround him with a supporting cast to make the most of it. Maybe that's what Sarri is doing? Eden's contract is up in about 18 months with rumors about RM every single day. Eden speaking publicly once a week about his childhood dreams, how he hasn't made up his mind and how the future is uncertain etc etc. That's not the commitment and leadership a leader would radiate. Maybe Sarri is trying to challenge and provoke (but not in a combative way) Eden so he get his sh*t together and focus on the present. I mean, it's human behavior to drop in productivity and take on less responsibility if you doesn't even know where you are going or what is coming next for you. Like, Sarri has been speaking about Hazards contract situation a couple of times and i think this is the next step in putting some pressure on him to focus on Chelsea and hopefully commit to us in the long term. Theres no way we could or would have attempted to buy WHEN we were pricing him at £200mill!!! Its obvious we cant fill the team full of £100m players but I'd love it if we even tried our hardest to get one or 2 . Its getting that balance right of proven top talent, strength and yoof. We have bought some very good players around the £35mill mark but we need to have a proper DOF and scouting system that works along side the manager and the board so everyones in some sort of agreement, Johnnyeye and Sideshow Luiz
