There's no pleasing some people! If we spent 8 million on Demba Ba you'd all be up in arms that we should've spent more and gone for someone like Hulk! All season everyone has wanted new wingers, now we have got Hazard and getting Hulk.. perfect.. if Roman wants to splash the cash then why moan about it? The more the merrier, we want the best and to get the best you have to pay premium. C'est la vie! I think 38 mil for a 25 year old who is the finished article and we'll get 5/6 years out of is a good deal, especially as he can be used a back up striker too. We could pay 15 mil for a shitter winger and 15 mil for a backup striker but I for one would rather have Hulk.

the problem is FFP.... if FFP wasnt around then roman can do whatever he wants with his money... i wouldnt mind so much paying 100m for hulk

You really think we would spend the money without thinking about FFP? I don't know why everyone is always like "oh fuck we're going to fail the FFP regulations" -- the club is full of business men & lawyers and is a multi-million pound company as well as a football club, you really think they'd be stupid enough to have forgotten about FFP? I think they know what they're doing.

ffs, more FFP comments...

Take a step back and ask yourself, whether or not you think we have a team of people, lawyers, directors so on and so forth in the board at Chelsea, doing all the stats and figures (the CORRECT stats for that matter as they WORK there...) whose job it is to do these figures correctly and should we be looking a bit hairy of the imposing FFP front would say "hold on a minute guys, we need to slow down a bit or we are going to get furked by the FFP rules"....

Do you really think they are overlooking these things while we apparently seem to be on a mass spending spree?

I completely agree with that, I have total faith in the club. Anyway we are more likely to win things with Hulk than without him, wining things means more money, not to mention Hulk's marketability.

I for one am really looking forward to next season having seen the players we have already got in, and what's more- BEFORE the transfer window is even open, couldn't be any better, they'll be training with the club from the word go!

----------------------TORRES----------------------

HAZARD------------MATA----------------HULK

--------LAMPARD-----------MIKEL--------------

A.COLE-------JT--------LUIZ-------IVANOVIC

------------------------CECH-----------------------

OH My days!!!!

Not only is the starting 11 (possibly) fucking awesome, we have Ramires, Sturridge, Cahill to be switched with JT, Bertrand, Meireles, Marin and a handful of others to call upon.

It's not your money, so what's the problem?

Financial fair play. This is one of the most expensive transfers in football history for a player with no success in Europe or Internationally. For this kind of money, you should be getting an established star from a top level league. What bothers me (and I think other people here) is that this move was born out of RA's obsession with Hulk. Like Torres or Shevchenko, RA just wanted Hulk and was willing to over-pay for him. Does Hulk fit in with the team? I'm not sure. In Porto, he's their go-to guy. In Chelsea he's not going to touch the ball nearly as often. He doesn't fit in a 4-2-3-1 well. He's a 4-3-3 winger. He's going to play against much much tougher opposition. There are a while bunch of strikers and wingers available and instead of going out and finding the best value, he went after the player he was obsessed with. Last season, ManU got Antonion Valencia for £16 million and he had a fabulous season. It seems like there is almost no attempt by Chelsea to ever look for value. What happens now if Torres continues to falter? Well, we have no established central strikers and no money to go get one. Hulk replaces Sturridge or Ramires in the lineup depending on the system who were two of our better players. It's a signing that may turn out well, but doesn't really make any sense.

Exactly mate. Ive said this so many times its painful. These people are not in the positions they are in because they dont know how to run a business. Let the professionals worry about it

I stopped reading there....

No success in Europe? Check out his honours.

He has far more than Hazard, don't see people complaining about his fee..........

Are you taking the piss? Honestly? Or is this serious post?

As for Torres, he has played well for a while now, he needs consistency and by that I mean, playing games... and with him being our main striker, that's exactly what he will get. Besides, there wont be as much flak for him now that he has this huge 3 behind him, the goals will be more widely spread as each of them seem to fancy their chances for goal from time to time.

Don't really care how much he costs as long as the record transfer of a certain blonde striker is fresh in memory - those kinds of deals are responsible for price inflation. We, City and Real are main culprits and we're literally paying the price now.

Valencia's been with United for three years now. He was average for two years and has had only one "fabulous" season.

There is nothing more annoying than when people talk about FFP.

Yeh, because you know more about FFP than the people at the club, smh.

I dont know where these armchair economists get their backing from? I really dont, all they see is the figures that are posted on the internet about the clubs financial standings season on season, the club aren't going to reveal everything and they dont have to, because if they did there would be 100x more posts about FFP.. It's already annoying enough as it is that these people think they know more that the people who have trained and whose job it is to deal with all of these things...
