If all this is because Torres can't score, why don't we just sign an actual striker? Assuming that we'll have Mata, Hazard and Marin next season, it seems pretty silly that we should sign Hulk instead of Falcao or Cavani because he is a winger who can play as a striker.

U just cant go ahead and sign a striker when u have 3 in waiting. Signing a right winger makes more sense at this point of time because

1.we dont have a specialist RW. I know Marin can play because he is more of a versatile player but again i believe he would be used more of backup still we need a cover of him if he starts in that position.

2. I dont think we have a RW coming from our youth rank as well (correct me if i wrong here)

3. Let's not have a makeshift plan like last year which just didnt work for us.

We can strengthen the entire midfield this window and provide the platform for the strikers to perform because then there shouldnt be any complaints.

I think they WANT Torres to score (scored tonight for Spain) and are hoping he is the guy, so instead of pissing him off and signing an expensive striker, they are hedging their bets by adding (potentially) a winger that has a scoring touch, so we can get goals from other positions if Torres struggles again.

EXACTLY this. Anyone who is wondering why were getting Hulk and not a genuine RW or a genuine CF, this is why.

kdb is a winger, ramires should not play as dm. josh has already had 2 years on the professional circuit and on the bench plus how do we know he is not ready. let me ask u, how old is hazard? 21 right. but we expect him to be our saviour for the forseeable future, who can say if we had put some trust in kakuta and josh, they would not have become the hottest prospects. i think many of us confuse real football with fifa manager mode in which if we play a youngster too much, his development stops, thatr is bull-shit. hazard has been a 1st team regular for 3 years. its all about getting chances but unfortunantely we dont give any.

Ramires is great at adapting to whatever is needed of him, we are going to need a strong DM and he can do it. Imagine having his pace and ferocity back there... Deadly, especially on the counter. He and Mikel would be great back there. Marin did indeed play a lot of CM at Genk until he was moved due to necessity. He can play back there and bring in the Hulk on RW. That's just ridiculous. If we do that and bring in Azpilicueta I may die as happiness.

We've got Ramires, who's probably a better option than Hulk.

It will be called naive, but I think if we want to have Ramires and Hulk at the same time in our squad, then use Rambo as a right shuttler. Torres benched (contrary to RA’s promises). Hulk up front, pivot of Lampard and Mikel remains the same. Hazard and Mata are the other forwards.

Come on, mate. Ramiers is better at the center and has really done well in there making it his own. He wasnt much of an impact when he was playing in the wings for the few games which he was there so why push him there unless there is no other option. We need to utilize his pace and energy in the middle and not at the side. Again by pushing him into the right we would then need to look out for a CM to fill in the void. Better get a RW with Marin as the backup and we dont have to worry abt it for few years.

Go do some research mate, Kdb only played on the wing for Genk due to a lack of options and he came through there academy as a CM. The last part of their season in Belgium, Kdb played in the central midfield role and was one of the best players in the league. We know Josh isn't ready because firstly he hasn't got a set position and thirdly because he can go missing in games. If we're playing Josh in the double pivot he currently lacks the strength to perform a role for us there and if we play him in the No 10 he's not quick enough on the ball like Mata. You can't be obsessed with bringing youth just because they've been on the professional circuit for two years Bertrand's only making it likewise for Welbeck and Cleverley. You can't compare Hazard to Mceachran, because Haard broke through a team which doesn't have a lot of pressure to perform due to not challenging for titles year in year out, whereas we have that pressure on us. Look at how Fergie uses his kids for the perfect example of bring youth through

you do your research dude. its on wiki and i am pretty sure we bought him as a winger and not as a cm, and thats why people here are saying that we dont need another. you can even read other posts to make sure of it. as far as josh is concerned, how do u know that he is not ready? have we given him any chance. showed any faith in him. we want him to be a dm wen he definitely looks a perfect option for cam. and if you are worried bout josh and his physicality believe me u r in for a big disappointment when u see marin. and i do look at fergie. he trusted welbeck (who has one of the worst first touched for a striker) and played him ahead of berba and javier. we dont want to do that with danny and want hulk as am option. what does that say?

marin at genk? i think u meant kdb. but i dont think rambo and mikel would be a good combo defensively. plus both of them dont have that range of passing as lamps as he showed in the barca match with the diagonal ball to rambo and that has got to be the most important aspect while playin in the double pivot.

You're not thinking about the tactical aspects of the game. We'll get screwed if we line Hazard, Mata and Hulk together because we'll get a hugely polarized formation: the front four will attack only and the back six will struggle to support them because there will be a big gap between them. That's why we need Ramires to play on the right and make sure there isn't too much gap. And Ramires has made some very important contribution as a winger this season. If I'm not mistaken, he played both matches against Barcelona as a winger and against Liverpool in FA Cup final as well. I'm sure he can make that position his if he keeps on playing there and gets used to it.

And, I think we'd be better off if we'd invested on Mikel's new partner than on another winger.

We also just signed a massive deal with Audi, got rid of Drogab, Kalou, Bosingwa, Benayoun, Zhirkov, Anelka, Alex and possibly Essien. Our sponsorship deal with Adidas and Samsung is also yet to be signed too put it in shorter terms we've made an absolute shit load of money this season which is why even with signings gourlay said we're close to breaking even. You highlighted a key problem there when you said 'Meireles rotated' and which is why i think we'll get a CM because we can't have Lamps playing 40 games again this season, we need someone who can displace him and play regularly and Meireles isn't good enough in all honesty although a useful squad player

true but i dont think we have enough options tbh

modric - over 40mil
Sneijder - growing old
Christian Eriksen, - CAM - we have mata already
Kagawa - would have been the perfect fit actually but United :(
Cabaye - dont see him leavin Newc just yet

can't think of any other viable candidates at the moment. not yet convinced by marvin martin etc

I m not saying get Hulk, i m saying get in a RW because that is the need of the hour. Again Ramires and Lampard/Mikel/Essien/Romeu r the ones who would bridge the gap between the offense and defense. because of Ramires pace and energy is why he is more needed at the center.

Last season we played Sturridge in the wings and by the latter half of the season he just vanished. We cant take the same risk again.

And if it is about investing in a player than would prefer a RW rather than CM at this point of time.

Apparently we're stalling on signing Hulk to keep our options open. Which is a good move by our board. The general concensus among the Media and non-Chelsea fans is that we will buy a big name striker like Higuain, Cavani or Falcao if we don't buy Hulk. I really can't see that happening now that Torres has been given the full backing. It is also better for Torres if he doesn't have some immense big name striker competing for his position. It'll be Drogba all over again. If we don't buy Hulk we should definitely go for a CM.

How do you know?i thought the deal was 90% done?

Correct. Double pivot is all about intercepting the balls, disrupting the opponents in the channels, drop down to help the backline, distributing the ball properly for the attack. Lampard and Mikel did that pretty well for RDM.

Hulk is such an odd player. He plays wide but has the physic and prowless of a Drogba when he is alone up front. Not sure how he fits into the mix. Lets get a manager who has a plan before we continue to spend. Hazard was a brilliant signing and was a must. It allows Hazard to play LW and Mata LM or vice versa. Mata lacks the burst in my opinion to play up front unless it is as a substitution role. I'd hate to see Sturridge leave because there is no way we can keep having him play 2nd fiddle to Torres or Hulk on the RW. I'm happy with saving the money and keeping Sturridge in the XI but Hulk brings something to the pitch that not many players have in the EPL. If we let Sturridge go we all know he will burn us each time we play him.

I see Torres (while he was beast) very similar to Falcao. Size, style of play, both good with legs and head, long and short shots...

If Hulk can make Torres to score again, 40mio will be damn good spent.

I would pick Hulk over Falcao, because right now, we need very good winger and Hulk is only one that we were linked to. Torres will be back, Hazard, Hulk and Mata will take care if that.

Also, Modric or Moutinho would be good to have, since we will need some creativity from the back. That will give us better counters and faster, more creative play. But if Lamps can do it for another season, we dont need creative CM yet.

Most promising player in the Jupiler league

'Anderlecht’s young Brazilian Fernando Canesin took the league by storm at the beginning of the season. He then disappeared from view but he looks certain to be a force in years to come. Genk’s Chelsea-bound Kevin De Bruyne had an inconsistent season – troubled by injury – but his performances in central midfield towards the end of the season marked him out as a special talent.'

http://belgofoot.squarespace.com/

The reason De Bruyne was on the wing at Genk was due to there not being many other options, but he found his best form at centre mid. He's not ready because although looking good at passing at Chelsea level and England under 21's, he doesn't have the workrate or tackling ability yet to be a starter for Chelsea. Ferguson sent out Welbeck on loan to the likes of Preston and Sunderland before giving his chance and breakthrough and saw no need to rush him, which is what we should do. Josh's time will come but as demonstrated by his time at Swansea, he's not good enough just yet and needs gametime elsewhere to mature as a player
