The season where we had Rafa he was really coming on and I said that the next season was make or break for him in regards to being known as a world class defender. I thought he missed his window of opportunity but here we are... he's clawed it back. If he performs around this level for the rest of his CFC career he goes down as a bonafide CFC/PL legend. Viva la David Luiz. If only he was either 25 now or had Conte as manager when he was younger hey? Unionjack 7,531
I can still hear the laughter echoing agter the Don said Luia could be one of the best defenders in the world. Simce then the lads been blinding, Today I saw a Luiz I doubt he himself never knerw was in him. He played Lukaku like a strung puppet Hes making me believe he could wear that captains armband more and more..
BlueLyon 9,359
The run when he saved a corner, that was typical Luiz. That passion and determination. He was always a great character, now he is becoming great defender too. Conte did great job at calming Luiz and Costa so far. Strike
Popular Post! Gilvorak 3,734 Posted November 6, 2016 Popular Post! Share Posted November 6, 2016 A few of his highlights so far. His passing is way better than Bonucci's, it's not even close. He can play any ball he wishes with either foot. Â https://streamable.com/7uv9 Â That doesn't even include his performance tonight which was his best yet. He completely controlled the game with his passing. TheIceMan, Chelsea Legend 11, DYC. and 6 others

Blue Armour 4,439
With Luiz, despite the slip-ups he has made in the past, I have always felt as a defender his ceiling was far higher than most. When he's 1 v 1, versus an attacker, there's always that assurance that he won't back down from a challenge because he's not afraid of going into a tackle. No wonder he earned Aguero's ire in that match against City. Amblève. and Fulham Broadway

Thats one of the reason he comes under so much criticism. If you look at the Everton game during the later stage ... He started moving way ahead into the opponents half and suddenly you're Come back in position, Luiz .. maintain your line!!!  I understand it is instincts but if Luiz follows Conte's tactics to the letter, he will surely be talked around in a positive manner (which has started already) ... For me, he has everything you need in a player ... pretty much a complete team player other than then occasionally brain farts.    Fernando

And even if we let one goal in because of him, we have good attack, we can recover. Also, in 3-4-3, there is always someone who will cover defense for him. Anyone bar Hazard, Pedro or Costa, actually, whole team is dynamic. Luiz is risk, but much needed and affordable one.
Ryan Fong 2,776
He is one hell of a surprise this season. When we re-signed him other fans laughed their asses off saying how ridiculous this move will be and waiting to see his brain fart mistakes. Instead, what he has showed is discipline (most of the time), determination, strong physicality and exquisite long range pass. His long range pass skill is even better than his first spell with us, at least on the same level of Bonucci if not better. Keep it up geezer! So far excellent signing.  Fernando and Unionjack

Unionjack 7,531
I'm not being nasty or criticizing anyone but Luiz is the only one of the back 3 I wouldn't rush to upgrade. YES Dave has been blinding in the 3-4-3. His stats, heat charts and passing diagrams have shown it. BUT we know hes got his weaknesses. And Cahil has looked much better too but I cant see im being a starter after a transfer window. We have 2 great young fast CBs in Happy and Christensen and keepng Dave would give us some great depth. I honestly think tho the Don will be looking to upgrade both lads. I like Dave alot, hes a great worker and a solid player with a good character but theres no room for sentiment if we want to keep progressing and dominate Europe. We shall see. Ive always liked we had a strong powerful defence. One that scare shit out of strikers. Thats what I liked about Bane. Daves a pretty boy hes no good in a scrap and hes not got the height to get up for croses

If short Mascherano can play for Barcelona against tall ronaldo and co,  win trophies and be a linchpin because of his excellent tackling, then Azpi can play for us because he's as good a tackler if not better. Chelsea Legend 11 and EMK

This Spaniard is a true fighter, his spirit alone wins me over and all the rest are just bonus. Zouma replaces Cahill then we have a pretty solid CB combo. I'm genuinely worried about Christensen's situation if he can't outperform Zouma. Amblève. and kellzfresh
