Doesn't matter how close it was, the ref has to be sure that the foul denied an obvious goal-scoring opportunity or else he can't give red. I think Robben's first touch, which was before the contact with the keeper (I'm not even going to try to spell his name!) took the ball away from the goal and it would have been very difficult for him to keep it in, and even if he did the defenders would have gotten back by then.

I still think robben has great chance to get to the ball if Arsenal gk did not tackle.

Seems to be a patten emerging..City at home..10 men...loose 2-0...Arsenal at home...10 men...may loose 2-0..least we're away first :D

Though daft to say either tie is defiantly over.Only early goal in the next leg and could easily turn it around..weird things happen..hard but not completely impossible

Did I just watch City v Barcelona again?! It's so bloody similar. Home side goes down to 10 men, away side score an early goal in the 2nd half before netting another 2-3 minutes from time.

Four first leg Champions League Last 16 matches played, all four won by the away side and none of them conceded. Leverkusen v PSG, Man City v Barca and Arsenal v Bayern ties all pretty much over. Only Milan v Atletico (0-1) still alive, if anything. Meh!

They were a fast paced dribbling team with a lot of wing play and crosses to mandzukic. Now they play on the edge of the box. Don't be decieved by their play now, they are shit compared to last season

I know the discussion is over but your point yesterday about the away side said tiring out the home one with possession is more applicable to this Arsenal v Bayern game. Though Bayern did have problems defensively, their passing and movement was good in moving Arsenal about, create chances and tiring them out, even at 11 v 11, and it got even more relentless with 11 v 10. Barcelona hardly did anything much of this yesterday.

Fucking UEFA! I was rooting for City and Arsenal because English teams are so bad in the CL but maaaaaaaaaaaaaan. I hate Bayern , I hate Barcelona , I hate Guardiola and I hate UEFA. 2 red cards againts 2 English teams that came after the away team couldn't do anything. 2 Red cards in favor of Barcelona and Guardiola. Fuck this shit.

True. I was used to watching barca under pep. So I know that's what he does, that's why he beat mourinho more, his play tires teams. But your right barca are no longer the same level at doing that again. While bayern are starting to get used to it.

On another note, its an absolute borefest sometimes though. How people prefer this to the two styles I saw playing the champs lge final last year puzzles me
