Belgiannutt 3,201
It matters in the discussion about the suggestion that was being made that we should feel more ashamed about our exit from the CL than Arsenal. Of course eventually it all means f*** all as we're both out of the competition. But people are acting like we should change the name of the club and move to another league because we went out on goal difference against a really good side while Arsenal are being portrayed as unlucky champions even though they got destroyed at home by a side, theoretically, much worse than themselves. Ashamed is a strong word but i do think our exit was worse then Arsenal's. Atleast they put up a fight. We were worse then PSG in both games. Especially in the second leg. 11 vs 10 at home and we were completely dominated by PSG.Do agree with you that Arsenal shouldn't be complimented on their performance. They should have always beaten this Monaco side.
The Chels 2,502
Credit to Leverkusen. They didn't create much in this game but they defended resolutely (especially from set-pieces). For Atleti it's the kind of the luck all CL winners need.
Magic Lamps 11,692
This away goals rule is utter Bullshit. Going out of a competition without losing a match is unfair. Two draws should warrant extra time and penalties. Or simply fuck this replay BS and have every round one match on a neutral venue. Popular Post! Hybrid Angel 2,130 Posted March 18, 2015 Popular Post! Share Posted March 18, 2015 Honestly I feel jealous when I watch Atletico's press and defending. For me, in the modern day of football that's how centre-backs have to defend. Miranda for example, knew exactly when to press and when to stop the press and go back into position and did his job perfectly. I don't like the backing off and keeping your position all the time, something that all of our centre-backs do. I think a combination of each style would be the ideal solution in our team, one classic, English centre-back who stays in position at all times and his pair would be someone like Miranda, sort of like the Jt & Carvalho partnership we had 10 years ago. manpe, Beigl, DYC. and 2 others
petre.ispirescu 4,928
Chelsea and Arsenal out after 3-3 on aggregate. I think I'll throw a cheeky bet on a 2-1 win for City and Barcelona to go through on penalties.5 quid on CS 2-1 City @ 21/15 quid on Barcelona to go through on penalties @ 80/
illmatic 901
I don't see any team with a amazing level, all equal. In less words, this and the past, was probably the UCL with more lowest level of the last years. As hurts that we have been eliminated.... If were that much worse than them in both games and still managed to only go out on away goals and through 2 late goals then we were doing at least something right in managing the game.PSG are an excellent side with a lot more quality than Monaco. And "completely dominated" is a huge exaggeration, imo. We played poorly and didn't press our advantage but PSG were not dominating. They had 10 minutes in the second half were they managed to press us back and keep the ball, but other than that they relied on set pieces they got from counters. You forget that we more than matched them in the first half in Paris and were on top in the first half at the bridge even before the sending off.We should be disappointed, but we have nothing too be ashamed of. It's not like we lost 3-1 at home to a team like Monaco!
