Just seen pictures of De Bruyne's agent in Abu Dhabi with the Wolfsburg management and rumours from Germany suggest it's pretty much a done deal. Loan with an option to buy for around 20-25m.

Probably bullshit but what do you all think? http://www.caughtoffside.com/2014/01/06/man-united-ready-to-pay-25m-for-chelsea-youngster/

Personally I would let them loan and at the end of the season straight swap with Rooney if they want him permanently.

United really need a player like Kevin, they are full of shitty wingers: Young, Valencia, Januzaj(he is very talented but he should learn a lot) Kagawa.. We shouldn't let Kevin go to them, he would be fantastic. Don't strengthen our rivals, if Mourinho really don't need Kevin or Mata then sell them for Wolfsburg, PSG, Atletico..

Take it with a pinch of salt indeed. As you said, it's from tribalfootball which pretty much makes it a BS news already. And not to mention, even if De Bruyne hasn't been used by Mourinho, like he's gonna sell him to a rival and potentially strengthen them.

Wolfsburg wait to hear from Chelsea about Kevin De Bruyne bid

Wolfsburg are waiting to hear from Chelsea to see if their bid to land Kevin De Bruyne has been successful. The Bundesliga side appear in pole position to land the Belgium international midfielder ahead of a host of rival German clubs.

De Bruyne seems set to leave Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window, but it appears talks over whether it will be a loan move or permanent switch are delaying matters.

Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs said: "The ball is in Chelsea's camp now."

De Bruyne's agents have reportedly flown to Abu Dhabi for talks with Wolfsburg, where the club is on a winter training camp.

The player's agent Patrick De Koster is quoted by Kicker as saying his client is keen to move back to Germany. "We hope something might happen soon," he said. "Kevin really wants to go to the Bundesliga."

De Bruyne spent last season on loan at Werder Bremen, and was hugely impressive before returning to Chelsea this summer, but he has struggled to make an impact on the first-team under Jose Mourinho.

How do other clubs come up with prices? How was Willian priced at £30m? How was Falcao priced at £50m? Silly question. Of course these players aren't actually worth these prices, it just the inflated market; we should ask for no different. We'll have a hard time of dealing will FFP if we continue to let quality players go for buttons.

At the very least, KDB will go on loan until the World Cup and it's pretty safe to say that his price will rise afterwards. Therefore it is not inconceivable for his price to be in and around 25m by then. If Wolfsburg can't afford him now it's fine, I'm sure he'll have plenty of suitors in the summer. We may even keep him if Mata goes. We're not desperate to be rid of him, so why would we sell him for less now when we could get more later?

Like anything else. Supply and demand and comparables.

De Bruyne's value is based on his Bundesliga performance, Belgian NT performance, his age, and his lack of Chelsea performance. I think it's wrong to suggest that his value hasn't increased at least 2-2 1/2 fold since he was acquired by Chelsea from Genk. He was the top play maker for Werder Bremen and top offensive playmaker for the Belgian NT, and he showed a high level of play albeit inconsistent while at Chelsea.

The problem is that a player's value decreases when no one can see him play save for brief cameos in games against championship sides every once in a bluemoon (no pun intended).

Ultimately, I think Kevin doesn't fit into Jose's style and Kevin's playstyle doesn't meet Jose's needs. The problem with that is that Kevin does have certain skills that Chelsea sorely lacks in the form of crosses, set pieces, and directness of play but Jose doesn't feel that Kevin's defensive liability is worth his offensive contributions.

It's a fair enough point but I can't really judge a player that has barely played since September and only gets one game once every 10 games.

And before we get the Marin comparisions. Marin has never come close to contruting the the German NT like KDB and never had such an impact at the Bunedsliga level as KDB. I think Kevin can play at the Chelsea level, but it just hasn't clicked yet.

Kind of interested to see how KDB fits at Wolfburg..

Koo Ja Cheol was a significant player in their team, however, after his injury he isnt getting much game time......

Also, doesnt Diego play as their CAM?

Diego indeed, and he stated yesterday he'd love to have Kevin join the team. I'm guessing they'll use him on the wing if they can manage the price.
