Subjective.

I think he's very close. Who are the players who you think classify as 'world class' in his position? Vidal, Yaya and?

Them two and that's it.

The price IMO is just bordering on stupid. Just because we sell Luiz for 50m it is no reason to go all in and spunk the lot on one player. Yes the Luiz sale gives us great ammunition in this window but we shouldn't use the kid in a sweet shop scenario, ready to spend all it's pocket money.

The 50M from the sale of Luiz can go on a number of areas. Like already discussed for example…..30M for Shaw (Which I don't agree with that price either) but I will use it as an example here, then leaving 20M plus what ever we choose to add to it for a top quality CM to sit alongside Matic. Personally, Rakitic for me but again that's open for debate.

The rules leave too much ambiguity to be honest but I think that because he'll be in England for at least 6 months before he turns 22 that they could potentially consider him HG.

You're right though, the rules are just too confusing but I'd like to think that I'm right in this matter.

Yeah, I too think Pogba would be considered HG because Lukaku will most likely be too and even in his case he will only have been training in England 36 months in August this year, which is three months after his 21st birthday. I was just commenting that it could be the other way around too because the wording in the HG rule is bullshit.

The way things are now we always need to make our own assumptions and read between the lines on how the 36 months is calculated, how loans affect meeting the HG requirements etc. Surely it wouldn't take them much effort to write up a few clarifying sentences in the rulebook and perhaps have a couple of examples so everyone can understand them. Then again, this is the FA we're talking about here...

this transfer kitty is play money. No one thought we'd sell Luiz let alone for that much... We have the opportunity to make a luxury buy who potentially can make us the most complete teams in the world(with a striker of course) These types of players, if they ever become available, don't come cheap! Its a rare opportunity to grow the club, we don't have to worry about money just the right players. There aren't many players in the world that can do the job Pogba is capable of... In my mind substituting Pogba of Luiz dollar for dollar is a no brainer. PSG put us in a position where the money we pay for Pogba doesn't really matter, he won't be on crazy wages....

You sure about that? at least £100k+ per week dude, maybe even £150k+. He got Mino Raiola for an agent, no chance he become one of the most expensive player in history on small wages/

Rakitic? how much do you think he will cost? does he put in a tackle? have the ability to win the ball back? Doesn't strike me as a Jose type player.

I don't think anyone doubts how good Pogba could be, just that the prices floating around are insane.

If his agent pushes for less than £150k p/w he wants sacking.

A damn sight less than Pogba that's for sure. All what you listed is what Matic does, IR would be the ball rotator and his vision one of the best around, he also is a huge threat delivering a dead ball.

Insane indeed but on par with Bale at 86 and Shaw at 30. Ever changing marketplace. I have no idea what Pogba's true value is, what I do know is Juve don't have to sell and we just got a kitty that is similar to winning the lottery.

Hedging bets is obviously not the right terminology to describe gambling a windfall on potentially the next Yaya but what I will say is £50m for Pogba won't make me flinch... Only because we were wowed by the Luiz deal.

I know what he's envisioned as but I don't think the sort of player who doesn't have any defensive acumen is the type of player Jose would play next to Matic. In my mind the way we set out is more akin to a pack of wolves hawking after the ball as a unit, if you don't know how to do that you won't play. The team I see is more about power and pace, Rakitic ticks the box in terms of how Chelsea supporters would like to see the team play but I don't see Jose paying a big fee for a player who only plays one way.

Pogba is more a Jose player, box to box, picks a pass, wins tackles, composed on the ball.

Anyone arguing against bringing in Pogba is just silly. Already one of the 10 best midfielders in the world with probably the potential of being one of the best overall players in the world. It's simple, if we have the money and he's willing to come here you make that deal ten times out of ten.

Why is everyone so concerned about the money? Take a look at the market currently and understand that you support Chelsea FC. We're going to have to pay a lot of money for anyone! The club clearly has the money based on recent deals, so why not? I guarentee you won't miss the money when the next few years are littered with an array of trophies.
