Im somewhere in the middle of Term and TOPTB, honestly I can understand both arguments, I don't think he is a traitor, but I can't pretend this hasn't left a very very bad taste.

I would be quite annoyed if I was a City fan to, because ultimately when he retires he will be back here as a coach or ambassador, and City will be a 6 month spell in his twilight years, he will be celebrating victory for us against City for years to come from the stands or dugout.

The only loser is here is Frank! It will certainly damage his LEGEND status at the club and certainly doesn't go along with the Chelsea faithful! As simple as that! All this years of hard work and sacrifices will go down the drain just like that!

I just saw the interview on SSN with Carvalho (sp?) and he seems alms of speechless really stunned and I felt disappointed about Franks choice.

Yes, some people are overreacting a bit (though it's a very small minority), but that's how they feel. It's a touchy subject to be fair. I just don't think anyone can tell someone else how to feel is all. It's a classic heart VS head scenario and I'm afraid your head isn't going to convince their heart to see otherwise, especially at this moment. I don't really see anyone saying he isn't still a Chelsea legend anyway, though those who back Lamps seem to think they said exactly that.

The short of it is, people have different tolerance levels. Some higher, some lower. For some a living legend simply putting on another PL team colours is enough; regardless of the reasons, it's still a line that has been crossed in their eyes. He'll probably be doing exclusive interviews with them, he'll get a shirt number etc. It's all a bit too much for some, which is completely fair.

Also, for every argument for his decision there is a very simple counter-argument: It's only for fitness VS just go to Melbourne then, he won't be starting VS it's even more pointless for him to be there in that case. At the end of the day, he chose City.

I think it's very fair for people to say they're disappointed with Frank. Personally, that's how I feel.

The way I see it his quote from last year now looks like this: "I can't imagine playing for anyone else after being at Chelsea for 12 years etc. etc. I'm not sure I could have done that...but if they pay me enough, I'll be City's mascot and do the Poznan!".

When you become a cult icon and symbol of the club.. that transcends what you've done during a playing career. Football is about tribalism, Lampard isn't just a former employee like Salomon Kalou.. he's Chelsea personified. That 'responsibility' you are questioning is dealing with the fact you're an ambassador of the club. It's the relationship you have with the fans, saying what he said in 2013 demonstrates a lack of class and respect. Signing for the family of our direct rivals in the first place, goes to show this guy has no affinity with Chelsea.

Two sides of a coin, really. Applying the same logic you could make a point that the club treated him without much respect when his contract was not renewed. The fact that it's quoted on BBC is not a merit of reliability. Regardless I stand by what I said. Melbourne is a stupidly long commute for a man with a young family in this country and he clearly as aspirations to play internationally still so why wouldn't he push himself at the highest level - the PL and Champions League?
