Yup thats one point of view, and I subscribe to it.

However, theres no prescriptive point of view that has to be taken on it. Sometimes its good to stand back a bit, and see top flight football for what it is- a big business corporate profit whore fest, instead of trying to compete with other fans over who wears the biggest heart on their sleeve.

Fair point but at the end of the day, for the fans that travel to every game and the millions watching at home, passion and heart is all that is left. That's what makes club football so special than other sport or even national teams.

As a foreign fan, the attitude of our fans at the Etihad only enhanced my love for this club and showed why Chelsea is so special that the rest.

I don't see how further down the line, in 40 or so years, how people could still hold a grudge against Lamps for scoring against us once after 13 years of being an incredible player for us. Will you really let one goal tarnish everything? Even if, and it is highly unlikely, it costs us the title this season, will you remember this goal over his 2 at Bolton, penalty against Liverpool, impossible goal vs Barca, captaining us in the 2012 Champions League final, scoring in the 2008 final, becoming our all time top goalscorer at Villa Park, the last minute goal against Stoke, scoring the winner in the 2009 FA Cup Final, being key in our first ever double. It's not just the fact that he scored against us, ffs. It's the fact that he always talked about being a true blue (light blue it seems) and contradicted everything he has ever said by joining our direct rivals for 6 months and in the process taking points off us and possibly winning city a few points in the future as well which could have an impact in the title race. As I've said before, King Didier rejected multiple offers from England because he loves the club. He left Chelsea and when he came back to England he joined...Chelsea.

That's all well and good, but this is about whether he was 'proper chels' like JT, an image he portrayed and alluded to. How club icons really feel about the club should be judged when the money dries out, cutting the grass reveals the snakes.

The problem wasn't the goal, it was the fact Lampard was playing for Man City. We've all heard the interviews where Lampard has said he's a true blue...and then at the first opportunity, he joins City for 6 months.

He'll always be remembered as a Chelsea great but this move has slightly tarnished his reputation..

I understand he's a professional and everything but I wouldn't have minded if he missed the goal on purpose. I know if I was in his position I would have hit it to go slightly away from the goal, and I would have firmly stated beforehand that I wouldn't want to play against Chelsea, so if the manager played me anyways his loss. I'm not mad with Frank or anything but I must admit I'm a bit disappointed that he seems to be going back on his words again and again. First he said he wouldn't play for a rival and then that he wouldn't play against us but not only he plays for a rival and against us but he also scores, you can't help but feel a bit cheated on.
