'I love this club, the staff, the players and especially the supporters, who have treated me fantastically since the day I arrived.

'The thought of helping the club to more success in the forthcoming years is all I ever wanted. I couldn't be happier.'

This can be a strong indication that Jose is also arriving soon enough, because why would any other manager want a player in a legend status possibly undermine his authority in the team? Would have been an easy way to minimize the risk of this happening and not being blamed for letting such a player go.

Though, if Mourinho does come then I'm sure there will be same faces ready to point out the 'I told you' factor. Hopefully it won't be a short and sad fairytale, because everyone's hopes and expectations are very high.

Ron Gourlay, Chelsea FC Chief Executive, said: 'Frank has been an important player for Chelsea Football Club for a long time and has played a significant part in the club's success.

'We have been talking to him since the end of last year and our discussions have been entirely positive throughout. We are delighted we are now announcing an extension to his contract which will keep him at the club until 2014.'

Wonder whether any piece of news in the tabloids were true then. Hell this was some saga and I am so glad it ended like this. Legend still in blue!
