i wouldnt be surprised if roman spends big in january, but 2 big strikers??? as much as i want it to be true, its hard to believe. maybe 1 striker and a cm and a few lesser signings makes more sense

You lot are deluded if you even think in the slightest that we'll get all three in January, laughable.

Torres has been linked as moving to Atletico

So essentially it's 2 extra strikers - isn't this what people were complaining about? Lack of depth?

Unfortunately, think it also spells the end of Studge or Lukaku - but having 4 strikers like the rest of the Big teams is certainly needed...

Its kind of depressing how much improvement our team still needs after spending such a hefty amount in the summer. I'm sure Roman would feel the same way.

In order to be, without a shadow of a doubt, a top 5 team (in the world) again, we need to buy in order to strengthen each area. Altogether I'm talking about 3-5 players. These players should be bought over 2 windows. No more, no less.

What we need:

•2 Strikers

•A World Class DM

•A solid (preferably world class) CB

Perhaps another winger/attacking midfielder

The overall theme here is that we already have the young and fresh blood base. Players who have the potential to be World Class. Now what we need is the spine. The players who are already the finished product and will give us experience, guts and danger.

2 Strikers: Its been said a thousand times. So to sum up, new strikforce needed, either 2 of Falcao, Cavani, Lewandowski or Jovetic. Torres out. If Sturridge doesn't want to stay, get him out as well and bring back Lukaku.

New DM: Mikel is fine. However that's just it. He isn't better than Fine and I doubt he ever will be. He lacks Mobility and aggression. Sure he can still be a part of the club however he should more of a rotational player who will get his fair share of games.

I think De Rossi would be absolutely the perfect candidate here. Busquets is a long shot. M'Vila is an option however not the finished product and I have my doubts over how good he really is. We don't need to get a Deep Lying playmaker as KDB (especially) and McEachran can easily be just that.

New CB: Luiz is Luiz. His work is well documented. Cahill is good however I'm beginning to realise he won't develop into some classy defender. He is probably just a solid yet unspectacular 2nd choice CB. Here we need to go for Hummels or Subotic. Both would be available and attainable.

Winger/Midfielder: Sell Malouda and bring in someone. Willian would be perfect. However Walcott could be available. Hell, even Nani could be. What we need is more depth in order to win the title.

Brilliant post.

2 extra strikers, okay I can see the logic behind that especially if Torres leaves and Lukaku goes out on Liam again which I think is very likely, but Cavani AND Falcao? Come on...

I am very sure we wont get both cavani and falcao it might be one of them but no way both of them. For me personally jovetic, huntelaar and a good competent Cb would be a very good january.Although james rodriguez is an interesting option i have not seem him play but have heard a lot about him and with our recent young attacker recruitment policy interest in rodriguez might be genuine.

Why is it impossible? RA is probably looking at City and thinking if I buy both, that limits 'their' options... You've seen whats happened over the past few days, yet you still refuse to believe that 'Anything' can and usually 'does' happen @ CFC :D

LOL!

So you think we will spend 100m on cavani and falcao in january and most probably one of them will have to sit on the bench if we keep playing the same formation with the ffp coming in as well.

Sigh.... FFP is not a concern... Amortising player transfers over X years solves that problem.

YES - I don't think it's unreasonable to have players on the bench, especially if ROTATED correctly.

And - WE NEED A PLAN B - something RDM was incapable of implementing... You cant always use 4-2-3-1... So having QUALITY options to change that is what makes a GOOD team GREAT!

What's with the negativity here?

A player like cavani/falcao will not be happy playing second fiddle to anyone. You got your opinions i got mine so i think we will agree to disagree on this one.If we do sign both of them i will be a fucking madman with happiness but i just dont see it happening.

LOL - so you haven't considered 4-4-2 then? ;) You can play 2 strikers at once :)

Or maybe 3-5-2 :D

@Muzchap, we all know Roaman is a bit crazy (ok, very crazy). I am pretty sure someone leaked his list and those 3 players are in some order of preference. It is like this with every position we need. We want a RB/RW/CAM/Whatever, when the press gets any information, it is always that we are going to buy the 5 best players out there at the same time. It ends up being one of the options...

@rmpr - yup but we are lacking firepower - I dont think thats gone unnoticed at Board level - and RAFA's assesment of the squad will definitely show how light we are up front.

So I could see us trying to sign both - seriously, we are European Champions and unlikely to qualify, so something RADICAL needs to be done, this is not the time to sit back and say, we won the CL - end of story, we want to get back and Win it again and again, along with the EPL and other cups...

So if he has the money and can meet the release clauses - then Expect to see them here, well at least 2 out of the 3 :)

@Muzchap, only with you believe Sturridge AND Torres will be leaving in January. I honestly dont think so, I think Sturridge will go and Torres will stay (Benitez of all people getting rid of him?). With that in mind, we will buy a ST and someone else in someother position Rafa thinks it is necessary.

I agree we are going to see a very busy transfer window though.

@rmpr - There's DEFINITELY rumours of Torres wanting out to Atletico (but that was prior to El Spanio joining, so who knows :P) - but I'd prefer to have 3 strikers - so Falcao + Cavani would be cool...

Maybe Studge will go - likely QPR if Arry has his way... Shame... but having Falcao+Cavani+Torres (backup - knee surgery lol!:P) would be cool...

Be interesting to see what RAFA thinks our best formation is - I still think 3-5-2 BUT very risky in EPL... without a disciplined defensive team mentality...

Actually, it would be 3-5-1-1 with 1 in the hole ;) - queue pics of Mick McCarthy ... :P
