Big Sam would not stand for the skills of Kalou and Malouda! He would want Chec Tiote in the middle and Heskey partnering Samba at front, with Paul Robinson in goal to smash it up to them. AVB has flirted at times with a 4-2-3-1 and I think that would work well if we had

A. A quality left winger (Mata would obviously move into the CAM position), the problem is that when we do go to a 4-2-3-1 atm the options for the left wing role are either Malouda or Kalou, not good enough.

B. A striker, obviously we have Drogba and Drogba is great but looking ahead to the future, a longterm top class centre forward would be nice.

The first one's way too defensive and I find the second one very offensive. I can see why you love these formations, though. If you put two DM's in FIFA your defense is invincible (God I fucking hate it when people do that), and with the second one you can score a lot of goals.

Bluelion that is a quality shout, i would not mind that for home games, Mata can play that CAM role with Sturridge's world class pace upfront. Lampard could not function in that system because he lacks agility behind the striker, Mata would be a very annoying player to play against in that role and i also think Ramires would love to play in the CM with Raul and Romeu holding.
