My Tottenham friend says Mata is the best player in the league (yes, even over their beloved Bale). My United friend says he's the most exciting player to watch in the league. He's not overrated at all... I feel people are just spoilt tbh.

Last season similarly people were saying that Mata will be phased out of the team because of the Oscar and Hazard signings and alas, he had an even better season. People shouldn't write this guy off like that, he's absolutely brilliant. Like I said, we've been spoilt.

It's like people are ashamed to say that Mata is our best player, and I think that's very ungrateful and disrespectful.

Mata will again prove (don't know why he has to tbh, but yeah) this season that he's indispensable and truly one of the best players in the world.

Mata reminds me of the mate you briefly forget about when someone new and flashy comes along (Hazard last year, KDB this) but eventually you realize he's the best mate.

I find it amazing how one of the best player in BPL is on peanut wages compared to others yet he doesn't complain, top class guy. I am sure if this was Rooney and he was entering the final 2 years of his contract, he would want a massive pay rises to stay like he did in 2010. Mata isn't that type of guy, he wouldn't kick up a fuss. Even if we refused to offer him a new contract I am sure he would accept it and stay until the end of his current contract and still give it his all. Top class professional and one hell of a player.

I hope Mata is ok playing RW for us. Several times he's mentioned how much he loves playing in that #10 role, especially after Rafa pushed him even higher up as a second striker almost. Now that Mou sounds like he will make him the first choice RW, it's def going to be a much more demanding position for him. He's not the sort to complain but you can also understand if he'll be grieved considering the monster of a season he had as the #10.
