Hppeulfully this will be a kick in the right direction. Gotta prove himself now he is worth it assuming he wants to

I am sure he does. He said he wasnt happy with the formation, which almost proves it was a club signing and not a Tuchel signing - but time to put it all behind and move on now.

My tuppence. I think its been blown out of proportion, and as Tuchel said its been taken out of context.

If you only read the sensationalized headlines or stories reported by the English media, sure it might have been taken out of context but if you read the full actual quotes from the interview, there was anything taken out of context. He said what he said pretty clearly.

Knowing Italian TV they led him up the garden path, lets be honest your average footballer isnt the sharpest tool in the box

I don't know if you have seen it but Lukaku literally agreed to the interview without even his representatives knowing anything about it, never mind the club. And oh, he did the interview in his house too.

In a weird way, this might just be what the club needed to re-ignite the season.

We've always seemed to relish and bounce back amid chaos, and this whole situation may present a scenario where minds are focused and any frustrations or issues in recent weeks are sorted out.

Mate, you need to stop making such proclamations. 🤣

Like I said, footballers arent the brightest generally - oh and bet his agent knew about it....

What's wrong with an optimist 🤷‍♂️

But I don't mean it like we're suddenly going to go on a 10 game win streak and reel City in but I think this whole episode might just help focus minds and get us out of a bit of a slumber at a time when this month could really define our season with 2 big league games, 2 domestic cups and heading to the world club cup at the end of the month.

This isn't aimed at you but seriously, fuck off with Lukaku complaining about the system and anyone attempting to defend him on that.

We won the freaking Champions League (and the UEFA Super Cup) with this system and without Lukaku and he expect us to suddenly change everything to suit him? I don't care if he cost 100 million or not but he's no Ronaldo or Messi, who you are inclined to make adjustments or compromises to the system for to fit them in. Besides the goals, what has Lukaku won besides ONE Serie A title in his career? Furthermore, this is a guy who has said he is now a "multidimensional" striker and that he's improved a lot from his time at Inter. He also said this when he joined in August:

https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2021/08/16/romelu-lukaku-exclusive-first-interview-on-coming-back-as-a-lead

‘My role will depend on what the game plan is and what the boss wants me to do. If he wants me to be a focal point or if he wants me to attack the spaces in behind, I can do it. The two years in Italy helped me master all the facets of the game for a striker and now I’m ready.

‘I like the system that we play and I’m very flexible. I can play as a two or by myself and I’m used to the system because it’s what we play with the Belgian national team so I don’t need much time to adapt. It’s just knowing the strengths of my team-mates in important positions and knowing what we do off the ball, then I can do the rest.’

If he's as good as he's made himself out to be, then he should be able to play in and adapt to different tactical setups instead of bitching about how the manager doesn't play the way he wants.

Realist > Optimist. 😛

Doesn’t prove much considering Tuchel said he wanted a #9 that can hold off defenders and then mentioned Lukaku as an option. This was weeks before we bought him…

For the first time ever I'll actually have severe doubts if one of our own players actually wants us to win.

I hadn't thought of this. Good point.

Jose certainly thought Billy Gallas was guilty of this at one stage and I have never believed in Willian's so called injury that kept him out of the 2020 FA Cup Final Instead I've always felt that a win securing European football for his new club was so much to Willian's benefit that it made him hopelessly compromised and unplayable in that game.

Still the drama that everyone loves seems to be ending now - time to move on

The first thing Lukaku needs to do is fire us past Spurs in the League Cup.

It's hardly top of the priority list, but no way do I want to see them having the chance to replace their "year we put the pressure on" DVD with an actual trophy.

''REVEALED: Chelsea stars 'think Romelu Lukaku wants to LEAVE' after the fall-out from his bombshell TV interview...''

sort of bullshit article floating around. Maybe a scintilla of credibility if you didnt look up the Daily Mail authors twitter account - Oh its a Sp*''rs season ticket holder 🤣

Perhaps he was told Lukaku was coming, then it sounds like the right thing to say

Yeah screams of a club signing now

Thought and said so all along. Posted to say that I didn't buy the, "Rom has unfinished business at Chelsea.", line and that instead it was likely that someone in the Chelsea decision making ranks had unfinished business with Rom. Went on to log my suspicion that this person was looking to prove they were right to have signed Rom in the first place all those years ago.
