They were also quite critical of his movement, and that both these facets had not been addressed in training. For the club to have spunked out 97m they must have studied, watched, read numerous scouts reports just to acquire a 'shit footballer' This means there are several highly paid club officials that are stealing a living. Doesn't bode well.  Ex footballers doesn't mean they're the Oracle, Tim Sherwood pinned Maguire's struggles on Varane. A 4x relegated player struggling so it must mean the World Cup and 4x UCL winner is holding him back. Furthermore system tax can only be remotely plausible if a player does their bit. Lukaku is lazy, hides (hence 7 touches) and can't control a football. And that's before we mention he rates himself on par with Benzema, Suarez, Lewandowski and Kane, the latter of whom fed on scraps himself yesterday yet still managed 2 goals and a defense splitting through ball. When Gabby Agbonlahor had 8 touches in one half playing for bottom of the table Villa away to Spurs he was mocked on national TV yet when Lukaku does less over 90 in a team that dominates the ball it's excuse after excuse after excuse by so called experts, it's ridiculous. Furthermore Shearer should have known better, he's a player that still delievered with Souness as his manager and Jermaine Jenas as his "service", great striker do it under any manager, any system, any circumstances. We need to stop shopping at the very highest price bracket and get creative. Scout around at medium sized or smaller clubs and find try to find the über talent that we can develop into a star. Mané, Salah, Jota, Diaz. All sub-£50m and developed into £100m caliber players eventually. There’s gotta be more of these sorts of players in Spain or Portugal or Germany. Dudes that are at midtable clubs but are ready for a step up. Either that or just get rid of Pulisic and Werner and sign some super creative AM’s and go the City striker-less route. We already have a system where we dominate 70% of the ball. So get tricky player who can actually do something with it. Defintly! Klopp manages to find gold...guess also his management style too.Their new bloke has hit the ground running so far. High fees doesn't mean it'll amount to a high quality player and mostly for us it hasn't. So hopefully like you say we can be wise and fix our problems.. Liverpool having a great DoF like Edwards also helped too. Klopp was once wanted Brandt but Edwards pushed for Salah instead, the rest is history. chelsea_4_eva 1,182
His first touch is criminal, no wonder he doesnt get first time balls. Chances of losing possession is too high.

There is the suggestion his signing has taken us two steps back. I beg to differ. Think his signing has taken us several steps back of where we want to be, which is competing against City and Liverpool who both have dynamic attackers that fit their system. Seems we want to sacrifice our similar blueprint in favor of playing around Lukaku, which quite frankly is down right stupidity as no top side in Europe has a team built around a limited striker. Let alone a side that just won the Champions League. Think we'll leapfrog from 4th to 3rd winning the odd cup here and there until we get rid of him.     Edited February 20, 2022 by MoroccanBlue

I have little hope for next week due to him likely lasting the 90/120 and I've even got doubts we'd get past Lillie (forget even competing with Bayern or City with this clown leading the line). I agree we will still get top four as as much as Tuchel is infuriating me for picking him his coaching quality will still ensure we pick up enough points inspite of him. I really hope Conte pushes for him and we don't stubbornly adopt a no sell to rival stance. I truly believe in karma (I believe the January clashes were Conte's for his behaviour in the last few months here) and I believe Lukaku will lose most if not every match he ever plays against us again. All our best football has been played without him and him being on the pitch literally means it is like playing with 10 men. No more of the BS please. Fernando, Hermione and Tomo 2

Too bad he did the kick off or his record would be even harder to beat!  True, he was not cheap to buy but he will prove to be worth every penny at the end!!! He just needs some more time. Ok his last game was not very good but with his talents ( Impressive speed, Deadly at counterattacks and 1on1 - football skills, ball control and management skill - he even points where they can give him the ball!! ) + being at the prime peak of his carrier, this will be a player Chelsea will have lots of fun with. Lukaku will make Belgium World Champion 2022 in Qatar!   NikkiCFC, Hermione, Johnnyeye and 1 other

MoroccanBlue 5,382
Thank fuck, at the very least Craig Burnley is making sense. So many pundits and ex-footballers defending Lukaku and blaming our players and system. Look at Kane against City. Take away his two goals, that was still a 10/10 performance. When he's not scoring, he gets involved. When he's not scoring, he looks to make things happen. When he's not scoring, he's still dangerous. This signing will go down in folklore as the biggest tragedy that was entirely predicted.   Blue Armour
