Jype 6,398
Could be a good move for him, if true. Celta have just appointed former Barcelona B manager Luis Enrique to take charge of their team. He's the one who gave Oriol a chance at Barca B and Romeu soon became a guaranteed starter in his team. Coming back from a nasty injury like that, it would be good for him to play at a club where he could regain fitness by playing a lot of games without too much pressure. English Freak 456
Oriol Romeu has agreed terms with Celta Vigo for a loan deal. He just needs Mourinho's permission now. (Faro De Vigo)If Romeu goes on loan..then that means we'll most likely sign a new CM/DM!
The only place to be 11,313
If Romeu goes on loan..then that means we'll most likely sign a new CM/DM! Or be stuck with Essien and Mikel.Hopefully this is a show of faith in youngsters like Chalobah, and just a chance for Romeu to get a whole season under his belt after injury. Not particularly enamoured with this loan deal though.
Liquidator 5,176
Stupid decision. He's too good for celta and us really useful player who has really come in strong the last 2 years. Yes he had an injury but a full season loan really isn't necessary. blu35_army and Pacquiao
Severinb 309
This would be really really stupid! Does anybody know how reliable the source is? Jose said he wants to see all players in training if he really does that there is no chance that he will leave!
bluesman2610 1,417
I think this the the media putting two and two together again because of the link at barca b we'll have to wait and see if jose and the board approve this one
kellzfresh 7,229
No no no!! I really like this lad, I think he'll shine under Jose. He needs a chance at pre season before any decision is taken.
Jase 43,479
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/jun/19/chelsea-celta-vigo-oriol-romeuCelta Vigo hope to persuade José Mourinho to release Oriol Romeu on a season-long loan from Chelsea next term with the Spain Under-21 international now fit again following a long-term knee injury.Romeu, who was signed from Barcelona by André Villas-Boas at Stamford Bridge back in 2011, had started to feature more regularly for Rafael BenÃtez's side until rupturing his cruciate knee ligament in a victory at Sunderland in early December. The 21-year-old spent the rest of the campaign in rehabilitation, returning to light training in April, and was fit enough to feature last month in a charity match alongside his club-mate Juan Mata in memory of the former Espanyol captain Dani Jarque, who died in 2009 aged 26.Mourinho wants to assess Chelsea's numerous loan players – there were 27 dispatched to various clubs around the world last season – upon the resumption of pre-season training on 8 July and his instinct will be to include Romeu on the club's tour of the Far East, which starts the following week.Celta Vigo's interest provides the Portuguese with an option to offer the midfielder regular football, and the new manager will make a final decision over a prospective loan next month. Mourinho is also likely to include the Belgium winger Kevin De Bruyne in his plans despite Borussia Dortmund still hoping to sign the youngster on a permanent deal. CHOULO19 24,332
People overrate this kid a bit, sorry. This happens with all our hot young prospects. They make a few appearances with the first team against weak opposition. Fans start to gradually over-hype their abilities until you get to the stage where a lot of people are saying that they are already better than our established starters and start slating the manager for not playing them instead of our senior players. Then the young player do get a couple of starts and inevitably are unable to live up to the hype built around them. So fans start doing a 180 degree turn and start calling them overrated and come to the conclusion that they will never make it here. Then they are sold. Rinse and repeat with another young talent.I call it "The Circle of Hypocrisy" The Skipper
BlueLyon 9,359
When he is fit, he is better than chalobah/rlc/josh/...IF there was no injuries he would be starter for us, no doubt. kellzfresh
The Mak 4,459
I'm afraid his big chance for Chelsea was blown with that injury. I'm sure he would've been one of Benitez's boys. He would've picked him quite a bit and we could've got a real chance to see what he could do on a consistent basis, but alas... Mourinho may still try him with a smaller side and he may still work his way back to being a squad player for us.
The only place to be 11,313
People overrate this kid a bit, sorry.I think most people just see a young guy who was improving with almost every performance. What I loved about him was his ability to get the ball and move it on quickly, sometimes finding an incisive pass through the lines and looking stronger and stronger in defence. Losing him last season was a massive blow because I think he would've been a big player for us in the pivot. Some people can make little comments about people overrating players but I think a lot of people see something in players like Romeu and Chalobah that is missing from some of our older players. There's a hunger and a sense of urgency to their play. It would be a real shame if this guy didn't get another chance at this club because he seemed to have everything we needed. He's just come back from a serious injury and needs all the game time he can get so sending him out on loan to a decent club that offers exactly that is a good thing in my opinion. OneMoSalah 8,886
Loan him to a side that pass the ball in either England, Holland or Spain. Someone like Swansea or Ajax would be ideal but yet again Swansea are set to sign that Jose Canas guy from Betis on a free transfer and I'm not sure if Ajax would take him.
