  1. Big disappointment seeing him go to be honest. Think he was an outstanding left back for a few seasons before especially the year when Atletico won the league and he was also good here in spells as well just not a regular starter. Hopefully he goes on to have a successful career again with Atletico but a bit gutted it didn't work as hes a top player.
  2. Yes I know teams normally look to replace certain players before they get rid of them similarly like when Ramires was bought to (or so I thought) replace an aging and declining Michael Essien. I felt that Zouma was bought to be Terry's long term replacement in all honestly but even then if hes not then I don't think Stones is the right guy or going to ever be nearly good enough to replace Terry. If we are going to sign a central defender for 34 million, surely it has to be Raphael Varane... only guy worth buying for that money at that age... definitely going to be world class. Its pretty much guaranteed he will be a top notch player. He'd be the ideal replacement for Terry. Or even buying Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid. Older obviously but still a world class player. I mean the last time somebody English was linked here, named to be somebodies long term replacement for vast sums of money, 1) we didn't get them and then 2) they really struggled at the club they went to. I just don't think John Stones or thought at the time Luke Shaw is/was good enough to be John Terry and Ashley Coles long term replacements. Especially for the stupid fees attached to them.
  3. How can a 29 year old CB be on his last legs? Also Terry will keep probably playing for at least another 2-3 seasons I think as well, replacing him is going to be like our own little Paul Scholes conundrum that Sir Alex had at United when he retired. Cahill will probably be able to play on here every week at such a level until hes 32 or 33 at least as well before a noticeable decline in performances. We don't necessarily need Stones as of yet or even next season unless Terry declines so badly its unimaginable and even then I don't see why we would sign him when we have Zouma who is younger and better and only arrived at the start of last season (despite signing in January) and Ivanovic who will probably move into that position if it ever gets that bad. Stones seems to me like the least thing we could do with right now, not to mention the fact we still look a different team without one of either Matic or Fabregas. We need to find a solution to that problem more than anything.
  4. Never mind how his name is pronounced (although I'd assume its just Witsel), if we sign him to stop confusion we will just call him Reginald. Azpilicueta is Dave. Witsel will be Reginald. Simple.
  5. He is decent but Ivanovic and Azpilicueta are better. I think in a team who sometimes sit off the opposition and play with a low block he wouldn't be much use as he isn't that good a defender in comparison to those two.
  6. Palace have got a couple of forwards to be fair, don't know if he will be as regular as some think unless they offload one or two. He might not even play upfront, he played on the right flank for Boro at times too didn't he, so maybe he will also fill in there.
  7. He likely will. I don't think we aren't interested in Pedro... it would be stupid to pass up a chance to sign him to give Traore a chance I think. Still needs a bit of developing, he had a good year last season but still obviously another loan would be better.
  8. Ffs £34M what a load of shite. The only player at Everton who is worth buying is James McCarthy.
  9. No clue why we are offering 20m or more to get this guy. Sure for a CB he has good composure on the ball but his defending isn't all that great, his first season under Martinez, everything went right with Everton and sure you could tell he was a talented player but also last season that Everton defense was a mess at times and he like the rest of the backline was at fault for it. Even more baffled considering we bought Zouma, who I am sure is younger, a better CB at present, a better prospect and has more experience despite his age. Sure JT won't go on forever but Stones? I don't feel hes the right buy, I'd be pretty disappointed if we signed him for anything over 20 million and that was our work done in the transfer window. If it was 10-14m okay but anything more than that would be a bad deal to be honest. I get we want English players but no point overpaying for such guys. I've read we would be paying more than the money Manchester United bought Rio Ferdinand for....
  10. I think its the Bayern board that are pushing for Vidal's transfer more than Guardiola, they tried to get him before he went to Juventus. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is a known admirer and apparently they tried to get him to move in 2011 but Leverkusen wouldn't sell to Bayern. Vidal also talked a lot about wanting to move there in that summer.
  11. For a guy who has scored a goal every two games in PL for a low level team I'd agree and say it is a fair price. Hes better than Lukaku for sure. I don't think I've seen a 6 ft plus, very big built striker hold the ball up as bad as Lukaku or play as bad as he does with his back to goal.
  12. Play regularly and maybe even prove a point in the PL for starters? Otherwise we might as well sign someone like Adel Taraabt because he was good in the Championship one year.... Harry Kane is a one off scenario honestly.
  13. Well lets be honest would any our current attacking midfielders/wingers get a game ahead of Messi, Neymar or Suarez? I don't even know if Eden would get in that front 3 to be fair. And Mourinho's transfer record since coming back a hit and a miss? Half of the guys he signed have been nothing but good and useful for us, some we've not seen as much of. Financially his signings have been very good too. Some will not make it here but will make us money. His first transfer window when he came back in the summer: Schurrle - played regularly, sold for profit van Ginkel - played a couple of games, got injured, loaned out twice, will be in squad or sold for profit likely Schwartzer - reliable back up, played when needed, left on a free Willian - playing regularly, improved into one of better players Eto'o - played regularly, left for free Josimar Quintero - youth signing, don't know what else has happened Isaiah Brown - youth signing, loaned out, hopefully part of squad soon or sold for profit, Cristian Cuevas - youth signing, loaned out, sell for profit? Stipe Perica - loaned out. probably sell for profit Christian Atsu - loaned out. probably sell for profit Then in the winter: Bertrand Traore - loaned out, will be part of our squad or sold for profit soon Nemanja Matic - regular and vital part of our team Mo Salah - kinda regular first half of season then struggled to get in team again, loaned out, will be sold for profit probably Kurt Zouma - loaned out, came back played regularly over a certain amount of time Mario Pasalic - loaned out, looks talented, if not sold probably be sold for profit The next summer window: Cesc Fabregas - regular and vital part of winning two cups Diego Costa - regular and vital part of winning cups Filipe Luis - didn't set the world on fire but still very reliable player Drogba - don't know particularly why he was resigned as in terms of playing wise he was past it but Remy - reliable back up, scored vital goals Then January: Cuadrado - only bad signing hes really had here imo still though early to say but not as big a fan. still fetch a decent fee for him though. Now we've added Begovic, Falcao and possibly could get Pedro? I don't think hes particularly made a poor signing other than Cuadrado and maybe Salah although I'd say both could still have a chance as they need more games but okay. The majority of players he has signed that have played in the first team have had an impact of some sort, the others have either been loaned or sold for profit. He has been shrewd in the transfer market.
  14. Don't think that's perhaps a bad idea if he is here as a squad player, he was unfortunate to be loaned out to Liverpool after his pre-season performances under Jose when he first came back. He was class in the game against Inter particularly. Although it was pre-season and all but I thought he would of gotten a chance but when we signed Willian he was out, he looked an ideal squad player for us though; physically strong, pacey, versatile, home grown, still had time to develop.
  15. I don't think there was a release clause was there? I think it was just a set fee? But anyway you look at the money and the two players... crazy.
  16. Its blatantly obvious Rodgers and also former Liverpool players who have been in the media like Gerrard, Carragher and Thomson rate Ibe as highly as they did Sterling when he broke through. I don't see why thats so laughable but whatever. The few games I seen them both play, particularly the Everton game where Ibe started, he played much better than Sterling. Also in the European games that I seen, he looked as good as anyone else in the game. Not saying hes better than Sterling or near his level, but there's obviously potential there.... he will prboably play just as often as Sterling did in his break out season.
  17. Considering Cuadrado is pretty average, he should be sold if Pedro comes.
  18. Eden Hazard cost us 32M, with world class potential. Raheem Sterling cost City 49M, with a lot of potential but never going to be world class. Jordan Ibe will probably play in Sterlings place and look just as good...
  19. Yes Josh McEachran says hello but so does Thibaut Courtois, Kurt Zouma, Kevin de Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, Thorgan Hazard... I know some of these guys don't play here now but they all improved out on loan, definitely. If Ruben is as good a talent people say and willing to work hard then he would be best going on loan playing every week and improving as opposed to playing 10 games a year.
  20. 49M for him and 100M for Pogba. Dodged two bullets in my eyes at that prices.
  21. Next to no creativity? Schweinsteiger is certainly a creative midfielder, hes not just an enforcer/ball winner, hes a complete player. Surprised Bayern actually let him go that easily. You throw in Herrera and all of a sudden that MF 3 looks quite class and thats without considering Carrick being the glue. Quite a complete midfield whatever they pick, Schweinsteiger, all round midfield player, Schneiderlin/Carrick more defensive minded but good with the ball and Herrera is also quite rounded but more offensive and able to score goals and make assists. I would of taken Schweinsteiger here if we could of gotten him. I know it was a year ago but his world cup final performance was out of this world for me. Hes top class.
  22. Why would he have to do that to play in front of Traore, Traore is a winger.... but I get your point anyway, he definitely needs to improve.
  23. Ideally Falcao should be 3rd choice if hes going to be as bad as he was last year.
  24. Sure lets play him maybe 10-15 times a season where he could go to Vitesse and play every game or close enough. If there is one way to potentially ruin a young players career it is possibly deciding to do that ha.
  25. Yes sure lest blow our whole transfer budget on a 21 year old who okay could maybe be be world class in 3 or 4 years or maybe not, for 100M its not a gamble worth taking honestly. Lets remember he plays in Italy, in the best team by a mile, where he is given more freedom to do what he wants and limited defensive responsibility. Hes not good enough to get that here. Fabregas and Hazard are the only guys who should get that bit of freedom here. Mourinho logic: buy what you need to improve your first 11 and squad.. Costa, Fabregas, Courtois (recalled), Remy, Drogba (mentally helped, a true winner). Not go and spunk 100M on a player who could be world class but who could also never hit that top top level like we've seen with Bale this season at Madrid, also considering playing in Italy is totally different to playing here no matter position, no matter who you are. Cuadrado and Salah deals springs to mind... Salah excelled in Italy, didn't look so comfortable here in limited appearances though.
