Losing Mata in midseason would be detrimental, even though he is not a 1st teamer. We can't afford to lose him considering the fact that one injury to one of our major attacking players, would leave us with only 3 players for as many postions. When the CL and FA Cup resume, Mata will play feature in at least every other game, so if he performs that will be enough to warrant a place in Brazil. This argument is a bit hypocritical anyway. He will go there no matter what happens and he will only play a few minutes at the World Cup, cos he is not good enough to make the starting lineup and offers nothing the starters don't to be effective coming of the bench.

The only way I see Mata leaving this month is a Rooney+cash (at least 15m ) or when anyone offers crazy money. When Bale is worth 100m, Mata should be at least half that. He might not be in Jose's plans, but we miss his set pieces and his creativity at times. With Matic at the club and the wingers covering we should have enough defensive cover to remedy his defensive limits, but he remains maybe the best passer and technician in the team and you just don't sell those players, at least not during the season.

He would be the wrong signing for United, there traditionally built on wing play and stretching teams out wide and crossing it in for the 2 strikers, this would be Moyes trying to make a big statement, don't get me wrong Mata would do ok there in in himself but he will be competing with Januzaj and Kagawa for one place.

Kuba would be the perfect signing for United.

So let me guess because i haven't said he is the best player ever someone will twist everything i have just said to make it look like i don't like Mata

Cant believe there are people here that actually want us to swap Mata for Rooney.

First of all we dont even need to offer them Mata. If they want to be cunts and keep a player who wants to leave, then fucking let them.

Secondly, why would we sell this kind of player to a rival? They are still possible contenders, theoretically, plus Mata will hugely strenghten their squad for a number of seasons.

ALSO, It makes me ABSOLUTLEY PUKE the way some people here are speaking about Mata. CLEARLY you've forgotten what hes done here in Chelsea. There are a number of plastic fans here. He is without a doubt one of the best players we've got and the fact that some people are speaking as if Mata is a disabled child that cannot adapt (to our current system) makes me even more sick. He needs playtime. That with the fact that we've probably straighten out our DM now with Matic will allow Mata to play in his actual positon where he shines.

I know we're in need of a striker, but honestly Id rather see us splash more money on someone else.

Why would Atletico Madrid offer United first refusal on Filipe Luis and Diego Costa for simply not buying Mata, when it would be more logical to offer first refusal to Chelsea instead should they send Mata to AM? Was initially onboard with this, but the more it seems like it might actually happen the more choked up I feel.

I don't want to see Mata in a Utd shirt. I don't want to see him scoring goals for them and celebrating with their fans in front of the Stretford end while they sing his name. It's like having to live next door from your ex-spouse and their new lover. It's a sickening thought and enough to make you want to gauge your eyes out. We'd not only be handing them a talented footballer with an exquisite first touch and an amazing beard, but we'd also be giving them a genuine lovely human being and practically the nicest footballer in the game.
