Stamford Bridge Thread

I can't see us having a Barca type dugout with its own roof sort of because this would block the views of seats behind the dugout which could affect matchday revenue. They should be raised though because they are much too low at the moment. Unfortunately its difficult to knock down and replace the entire bloody East stand but if we could then that's what I would do

In light of the recent statements from Chelsea Football Club and the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham (LBHF) regarding the possible redevelopment of the Stamford Bridge stadium site, the CPO board has requested a meeting with Councillor Nick Botterill of LBHF. We feel this would enable us to obtain a clearer understanding of how the council would assist Chelsea FC on this vitally important issue. We will report back to CPO shareholders once this meeting has taken place.

Thinking about this last night. I don't think we will need to even think about a new stadium for at least another 10-15 years. We simply don't have the fanbase to draw 60 000 to a game against Wigan or Blackburn. Season tickets were more or less on general sale last year, our game against Benfica, a Champions League Quarter Final took a long time to sell out (with the stadium operating at a reduced capacity), about half of our games this season have gone on general sale. This shows that we only have about 35,000 fans within a reasonable range of Stamford Bridge who can actually be arsed to go on a regular basis. How we would just find an extra 25,000-30,000 fans in 10 years to fill up the new stadium I don't know. It takes time to build a huge fanbase like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man United, AC Milan, Arsenal etc. have. In all honesty we should not be considered in the same bracket as this lot because we cannot suddenly begin to draw fans like Real Madrid have done since the 50's, Man United since the early 90's etc. When you look back at Peter Kenyon's comments about how he wanted us to be the 'biggest club in the world in 5 years' or whatever it was you realise just how much of a deluded smug prick he really was.

Of course we sell out quickly for the bigger games at home against the likes of Man U, Arsenal, Spurs but that is the case for most teams. We could sell out the stadium twice over for most of these if we had the capacity but a lot of clubs are like this. Barcelona would probably be able to sell out the 96,000 capacity Nou Camp twice over for el clasico. Unfortunately for us, we don't have a big enough fanbase at the moment to be able to draw 60 000 fans to our stadium for a game against Wolves or Wigan like Man United do. We have a lot of fans who only care about attending bigger games too, hence the need for the loyalty points system to be implemented.

If Roman Abramovich wants a new stadium now then he can by all means have one. Its not me or anyone else on here spending the money, its just that for 75% of games it will probably be 1/3 empty for at least the next 20 years.

Honestly tickets could be a lot cheaper to sit down in a freakin plastic-lookin' seat. Make tickets cheaper & we might have a chance of selling out often in SB. I normally go only if the cheapest tickets are out there, because to get to SB & buy tickets costs a hell of a lot.
