The FA has announced next season’s fixture calendar, with the 2015-16 FA Cup Final confirmed for Saturday 21 May 2016.

It means that three of The FA’s national competitions will be decided across one weekend, with both The FA Trophy and FA Vase taking place at Wembley as part of a pilot double-header on Sunday 22 May.
The traditional curtain-raiser for the season, The FA Community Shield, takes place on Sunday 2 August with Jose Mourinho and his newly-crowned Premier League champions at Wembley to face either Arsenal or Aston Villa at 3pm.
That will be the second time the Blues are at Wembley that weekend, as The FA Women's Cup Final between Chelsea and Notts County Ladies is taking place at Wembley for the first time in the competition’s history with a 3pm kick-off on Saturday 1 August.

The domestic league season across the Premier League, Football League and the National League System commences on Saturday 8 August with the FA Cup Extra-Preliminary Round kicking off on 15 August.
FA Cup Third Round weekend will be Saturday 9 January 2016 with the Semi-Finals on 23/24 April.

YouGov defends poll which showed Liverpool as clear Premier League winners
Liverpool-nativity-small.jpg

Polling organisation YouGov has defended its prediction that Liverpool would win the Premier League by 8 points.

YouGov insisted its methodologies were sound and that the fact that the actual result bore no resemblance to their prediction was just ‘an anomaly’.

A spokesperson explained, “Polling is an inexact science based on gathering data, analysing it, then pulling conclusions out of our arses.”

“We looked very closely at the results up to the end of March 2015 and at that point we felt a prediction of a Liverpool title triumph by at least 8 points was the most likely result.”

“People will criticise our analysis, but they didn’t have access to the levels of detailed data that we did.”

“The fact that Chelsea have won by such a margin is just one of those things that you can’t predict, no matter how complex your algorithm.”

“And anyway, technically Chelsea’s title win was within the margin of error in our prediction. So there.”

YouGov predict Liverpool title win

Liverpool fans have been left distraught by the Premier League’s result, having believed until just two weeks ago that the title was theirs to lose.

Season ticket holder Simon Williams told us, “Chelsea winning the title so clearly is such a shock, I can’t believe they YouGov didn’t predict it. It’s the last time I’ll ever believe a polling organisation.”

“At least until they tell me something I want to hear, anyway.”

If you had watched the Everton game, you would know Sunderland got lucky with two deflected goals.

It doesn't matter whether the goals scored were lucky or not. A win is a win.. it boosts morale and motivation for any team.

I'd rather watch my team get one lucky goal and win three valuable points, than watch my team dominate the entire game and lose 1-0.. wasted opportunities, as well as losing 3 vital points is crushing for a team who are fighting tooth and nail to stay up. When times are desperate, you value any goal scored, regardless of whether they are lucky or not.

I know I know. I just don't think Sunderland have enough or get lucky again against Arsenal. Football, after all, can be predictable.
