Sometimes winning when playing poorly is a good sign - obviously not fully sustainable over a prolonged period.

Did say in another thread re Nunez as he was linked with us, he is the sort of guy who when it all clicks, will score a big big amount of goals. He gets in the positions - just being clinical.

Liverpool’s attack will no doubt get them points in games like these, they have too much quality not to. Diaz, Salah, Nunez, Gapko & Jota. Throw in service from guys like Mac Allister, Szoboszlai and even Thiago who are more than creative enough in midfield to open the game up for them and TAA/Robertson as fullbacks - they are always going to get chances. Its just defensively they might be a bit exposed, Newcastle had 2 big chances, Almiron hitting the post and that volley that Alisson saves which really was world class. That is what the likes of him, Ederson, Courtois, Oblak, even ter Stegen do. Big big saves. But again, Newcastle’s goal comes from a mistake. Not actual quality although they press high.

BTW Villa look excellent under Emery. Yes Newcastle beat them but they still played well there. Would say so far, John McGinn and the guy Diaby on the wing have been outstanding for them.

What is worrisome is how easy it is for our rivals find it to turn games around after going behind or finding last minute winners. This is while our  team completely loses faith and patience whenever we go in behind with the pool game a rare exception. Age and experience play a role but we can only hope for improvement. I don’t see us making top 5 without grinding a few results after falling behind during the course of the season

Bc we never looked at talent from weaker clubs to buy them cheap under the old regime tbh. I hope with Boehly and co. this is changing. Transfers like Jackson instead of 150m on some "world class striker" is the way to go if u ask me.

You misunderstand my comment.

None of the players I am talking about would have been crazy money. I was all over all of the ones I was referring to before they blew up into cray money to buy status.

Mohamed Salah 'to play final Liverpool game today' as 'medical booked' ahead of Saudi move

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah will reportedly be leaving the club after Sunday's match against Newcastle.

https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1806481/Liverpool-transfer-news-Mohamed-Salah-Saudi-Arabia

Mohamed Salah will play his final Liverpool match today before leaving the club, according to sensational reports from Saudi Arabia. It is claimed the Egyptian will leave to undergo a medical and complete a move to Al-Ittihad after the Reds' Premier League game at Newcastle.

Liverpool have already sold two players to the Saudi Pro League this summer. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho were both allowed to make mega-money moves away from Merseyside.

And it looks like Salah could shortly follow them through the Anfield exit door. Saudi Arabian sports channel Riyadiyatv claims the winger will complete a move to Al-Ittihad.

It is reported that Salah will play for Liverpool in their game at St James' Park before flying to Dubai to undergo a medical. Al-Ittihad stepped up their interest in Salah this week and now appear to be close to securing a deal.

This latest development comes after reports from Sport Italia that Salah had informed Liverpool he would like to make the move to the Saudi Pro League. Al-Ittihad are claimed to have put an offer on the table of more than £79million for the 31-year-old.

The report says Al-Ittihad imposed their own deadline of Monday to discover whether a deal for Salah was possible. It is looking increasingly likely that they are set to be successful in their pursuit.

Losing Salah at this point in the transfer window would be a monumental blow for Liverpool. The forward has scored an incredible 187 goals for the club in 307 appearances since joining from Roma in 2017.

Salah has been instrumental in Jurgen Klopp's success of winning a Premier League title, the Champions League and reaching two further finals in Europe's elite club competition. Klopp had shut down any speculation over Salah leaving at his press conference on Friday.

The German said there had been no official interest as of yet and that Salah was 100 per cent committed to Liverpool. Klopp said: "It's difficult to talk about media stories as there's nothing to talk about from our point of view.

"Mo Salah is a Liverpool player. There's nothing there. If there was something the answer would be no [he's not for sale]."

"My life philosophy is I think about a problem when I have it. At the moment, there's nothing. I said already if there is something, the answer would be no. [He is] 100 per cent [committed]."
