He has a right to be, that statement from Moyes was a big smack in the face.

United are losing this battle both with Rooney and they way they are conducting themselves here.

A battle? Well it's obvious that if they really cared, Moyes wouldn't have said what he did. It seemed like a gentle push out the door in my eyes and that should say something...

If we get him, its a huge transfer 6 pointer. Similar to RVP, not only do we get him, but United lose one of their best players. Even last season when he wasn't playing, in 26 league games he still got 12 goals.

Well they still want to sell him for a decent price don't they? That's why Moyes will say "he's not for sale" to any suitors but tell Rooney "you're RVP's back-up".

He's trying to portray the club as wanting to keep Rooney so they can get the maximum tranfer fee from any club. At the same time, Rooney is RVP's back-up and he's telling Rooney the truth so he could have no complaints during next season but also testing Rooney's resolve to stay at the club. If he's truly committed to the cause and loves the club, he'll gladly stay otherwise he's forcing Rooney's hand to leave...

Making Rooney hand in a transfer request also eliminates any loyalty bonus he may receive.

the for sale quote is irrelevant to the final price, a fee will be agreed regardless of papering of any cracks united may want to put on it. The PR from united in this saga is horrendous, Moyes especially. The fact Rooney is versatile in most areas says Moyes should not of said those things as last season he played a lot off RVP, so that's that theory blown away and more that points to Moyes being naive.

They don't have to make him hand in a transfer request, he's already done it.

For a bit of fun if Rooney WERE to be a Chelsea player what number do you reckon he would choose...with whats available.

I boiled it down to these 3 !

I'm sure he would opt for 22 to prove he is twice as good as Drogba. :noexpression:
