Mourinho (1/2): "The club are working hard to keep the numbers in balance but we can still invest in a player who costs £20m/£25m/£30m..."

Mourinho (2/2): "...and not break the balance. We don't need to sell to do that...The striker I want doesn't cost £50m."

Off-topic, but now that Dortmund won against Bayern maybe we could make a sneaky bid for Lewan as an alternative to Rooney - maybe he starts realizing that the grass is not always greener on the other side in the Bundesliga and that the PL would be a nice place to go.

Maybe just a stupid thought, hehe :)

Went to the Middlesbrough friendly with Bordeaux yesterday it was an invite from a corporate company a mate of mine works for, afterwards was having a beer in the bar area when in walked Ross Turnbull, I've known Ross for a few years now and managed to catch up with him yesterday. I asked him how he enjoyed it here with us to which he explained he loved it and was greatful for the chance to play for such a massive team etc. I asked him about Rooney, he said with 100 percent confidence we will get him, no doubt. He said he spoke with Jose only last week and Jose said to him "it was a matter of time" before we got Rooney.

Just thought I would share with you what was said.

What's the real reason Ross had a talk with Jose in the first place? Surely not only to talk about Rooney didn't they? :Goober:

If Turnbull was still a Chelsea player, I'd believe what he said with 100 percent confidence.

Rooney's gonna stay at United cause Moyes won't be able to find a quality replacement before the start of the season.

“@DeadlineDayLive: Cesc Fàbregas has agreed to join Manchester United following a secret meeting between his agent & Old Trafford executives. (Source: Express)”

Hopefully means Rooney is on his way, but not getting excited until I see sky reporting it! But hopefully there is fire where there is smoke

Sometime ago i heard reports that Cavani had agreed personal terms with Chelsea and on the verge of signing for the us. Then again we know wat happened.

I have gave up looking at the Rooney rumors, everyday its the same old stuff they just arrange the words differently.

Nothing will heat up until the last 2/3 weeks of the transfer window I reckon.

and most likely after our game at OT on the 26th.

Chelsea may still have to bid higher for @WayneRooney with discussions having been held over an offer closer to £40m (Telegraph) #CFC #MUFC

Chelsea are planning to delay a 2nd bid for Wayne Rooney until after his appearance next week in Rio Ferdinand’s testimonial (Times) #CFC

believable, cant see anything happening until after the 26th, would be fun if we did it a day before his testimonial :P

Let's hope we can get him. He is the best option for our team.

He has experience in a big club, it will be very hard for Man United to replace him and he is a lot better than any of our strikers, We can't fail on this.

We are going to be the best team in England.

CHELSEA!!!

Read on Twitter so thought I would post..

There is a "gentlemen's agreement" between CFC for the transfer of Wayne Rooney - without transfer request required

Agreement was reached after clubs spoke over weekend following initial bid. Agreement is sell in principle, no sniping or comment in press

I thought we agreed on no bullshit in this thread?

See, this just goes to show how big of a club United are, they don't really want him or need him but won't sell to us. I can't even begin to articulate how massive this would be for Chelsea football club to sign a United legend, it would send out a bold message. This would be an even bigger statement than the Torres deal, which was another symbol of a power shift. It's Mark Hughes in reverse..
