Well it needs to be said that it's not a transfer window without a painfully prolonged Chelsea transfer saga. At least this saga is no way near as painful and torturing as the Modric, Hulk, and Robinho sagas.

No Lamps in Ours

Because the board changed their mind in the last minutes of the season for Frank. If he didnt broke the record and won the Europa League I can assure you he would not be a CFC player by now.Rooney is the same thing, told Sir Alex that he wanted to go before the end of the season so I think for the Home kit it was still early but for the away kit it is better to not put him by precaution.

just as Roo and Utd could change their Minds. Roo has been less vocal than the last time he put the request in and he stayed then.

No, United want to keep Rooney, so there is only Rooney who have this possibility, to change his mind.It is much difficult for a player to go when your club still wants you than the other way.

It really isn't. If Rooney makes an official transfer request and makes it clear there is no way of a turn-around he will be sold if the right offer comes in. It's completely stupid to keep a player that has no want to be there, not to mention the money we could bring in. If we wait one more year, the price drops, probably quite dramatically. We're a Football Club firstly, but we operate as a business, and keeping him would make no sense from that stand point.

The whole 'we want to keep him' is simply a stance made for maximum leverage no matter what the clubs decision is. Nobody even knows if we really want to keep him. There was a meeting quite a while ago, I wonder if it was decided there and then to sell.

It's a simple decision if it comes to it.

Shouldnt we be concerned bit then? Oh with that mighty strike force of Ba, Torres and Lukaku we realy dont have to be, right?

We can be concerned that we haven't targeted anyone other than Rooney, yes, I'd agree there. But I also think it shows that the board has matured considerably, and are learning from the failed Torres/Shevchenko experiments, at long, long last. Unless we see it as a prudent investment, I can no longer see us spunking out anything more than £30 million for a player ever again.
