Edinson Cavani

Am I the only one who doesn't really want him here? He's an incredible player and all, I know. But now that we know Torres is most definitely staying, along with Lukkaku, do we really need to spend 50million+ for another striker, especially knowing how doing that with another 26-year old turned out? ( That's another problem I have with him. His age. He's way too close to his prime then he should be for that kind of money, to me.)

Wouldn't it be better investing that money on a centerback, and a Cdm, maybe? If our strikers still continue misfiring, we could try again in the January transfer window again.

going in underprepared with strikers could easily cost us a shot at the premier league

Why is it so difficult to understand. If we spend for talk sake 50 mill on cavani, that does not mean we cant buy anyone else or less players. You have to separate normal life eg your piggy bank and football eg romans wallet.

If he really signs with us, what happens to Torres/Ba? That's the only question I have.

Simple, Torres will look for a new club or he will not play at all. Ba as the substitute of Cavani, of course!

Btw, I really wish we would pay 51mi instead of 49...

I like that scenario but I don't think it's as simple as that.

Torres is on huge wages (for the next 3 years...), and will he take a pay cut to join another club, a lesser club? I doubt that. So if he's staying, he's still getting his usual pay check making him one of the highest earners despite not playing much which would not only be bad for our pay roll but could turn out to be a problem for our "team chemistry" (can't think of a better word) as well. Players like Mata and Hazard, who will only get better, will demand higher wages when they sit down to discuss new contracts and considering Torres would get paid for literally doing nothing, their expectations when it comes to pay raises could be higher than our board thinks. Mind you, this is hypothetical and maybe never ever gonna happen, but still.

Ba joined us only a couple of months ago so I can't see him leaving at all.

As for Lukaku, I think it's the best for everyone if he stays on loan at WBA to play as their starting striker a whole season long. I wouldn't mind seeing him at Chelsea next season as our BU #1 though (which again would raise another question: Should Ba really be the 3rd striker?!).

Chelsea is most likely to get Cavani after recent media reports claiming the transfer is in progress.

Mirror reported Cavani has shown his desire to work with Jose Mourinho.

I think he has seen Jose work and obviously Jose has a huge impression in Serie A so he is looking forward to work with him while Madrid still doesn't have a coach and he knows the team uncertainty and competition at City.

 you telling us you've got £50million in your piggy bank, Ulster?

If Cavani comes in and Lukaku says he's staying, someone is fucking leaving. They have to.

I think we all know who we want to leave...

(not you backstreet, you don't count! :P)

Mourinho will not be afraid to bench Torres for the majority of the season if things work out this way. Especially if Torres half-arses it like he did for a lot of games last season...and I'm pretty sure Torres knows this.

I've always thought that another big-money striker would spell the end for Torres here and I stick by that.

At least if Jose did indeed want to move Ba it shouldn't be too difficult. Plenty of clubs would have him.

I'd feel bad for him since it seems like he's so greatful to be at a club this big. That's football though.

Going into the season with Cavani and Lukaku along with Schurrle/Hulk and we're golden.

Mourinho would play 2 strikers, and that'd be Torres and Cavani. Ba and Lukaku would be played in FA and when they would need rest :P. #simple

We should put in a 45 million pound bid for Suarez, just to shake De Laurentiis up a bit. I don't think anyone will actually meet the release clause.

Suarez is fucking better than both Cavani and Leewa. But I don't think we would go for him after that biting incident #sad.
