Steve 10,227
Chelsea line up Sergio Aguero with £38m plus Deco bid for the Atletico Madrid starChelsea are believed to be ready to offer £38million plus Deco for Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero. Latin flair: Atletico Madrid's Sergio Aguero The Blues will argue that the bid meets the Argentina star's buyout clause, which stands at about £51m plus taxes.Manchester United are also keen on the 21-year-old, but both clubs would insist on driving down his £200,000 a week pay demands. Chelsea have targeted Aguero as part of a three-pronged assault on the transfer market that includes interest in Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery and AC Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo.Owner Roman Abramovich has promised a £100m budget after persuading captain John Terry to shun Manchester City because he still has big plans for the club.Aguero is considered one of the brightest prospects in world football and is a long-term target of both Real Madrid and Barcelona.Atletico have tied Diego Forlan to the club despite widespread interest in the former Manchester United, but will find holding on to his strike partner increasingly difficult.Former Barcelona playmaker Deco is likely to welcome a move back to Spain after struggling in his debut season and criticising the club. Inter Milan have shown interest but failed to meet the asking price.Chelsea would also be prepared to offer Claudio Pizarro to the Spaniards if they wanted top replace a striker with a striker, but the Peru international is more likely to be part of a deal to take Pirlo to Stamford Bridge.Landing Ribery will be difficult, with reports last week that Bayern had already rejected a £68m bid for a player they see as being on a par with Real Madrid's £80m Cristiano Ronaldo. But their chances of signing the France star have increased with Real Madrid general director Jorge Valdano insisting their summer spending had ended with the capture of Xabi Alonso from Liverpool for £30m.Daily Mail
millzy_chelsea_fan 4
Chelsea To Lodge Bid Of £38m Plus Deco For Atletico Madrid's Sergio Aguero - ReportThe Argentinean is in-demand...5 Aug 2009 10:56:20 Atletico Madrid star Sergio Aguero celebrating his goal that opened the scoring against Marseille, a match the Rojiblancos went on to win 2-1.

Atletico Madrid may face a laborious battle in keeping star asset Sergio Aguero at Vicente Calderon as a bid for the player from Chelsea edges closer to the Spanish club's £50 million valuation. The Stamford Bridge side, under the new management of Carlo Ancelotti, are readying an offer of £38m plus a player - Deco. It is believed the inclusion of the Portuguese playmaker is to compensate for the £12m difference.Aguero, affectionately nicknamed 'El Kun' due to his likeness to a Japanese cartoon character - Kum Kum - is just one prong of a trident being targeted by Chelsea for summer recruitment. The club have been relatively inactive in the market thus far, having signed Ross Turnbull, Daniel Sturridge and Yuri Zhirkov; yet Aguero, along with Bayern Munich attacker Franck Ribery and AC Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo, have also been sounded out for potential switches.Prior to captain John Terry's decision to declare his desire to remain at Stamford Bridge, he requested assurances that the club's ambitions matched his own, to which owner Roman Abramovich implied that Chelsea had been operating in the market, only for their estimations of the players to fall just short of the selling club's valuation. A £100m budget is reportedly the amount that Ancelotti has to play with. The Blues will face competition for Aguero should negotiations for the highly-rated forward reach an advanced stage, as Manchester United are also keen. Deco will favour a return to Spain, where he helped sustain the name he made for himself at FC Porto with Catalan outfit Barcelona, as he has struggled to establish himself in Chelsea's line-up. diskoviolente 425
I think Zhirkov, JC and Essien are good ballholders and have decent passing skills...and yes, Aguero seems to be the missing link, although i think our attackers look real good at the moment... the wes 7,212
Atletico Madrid have told Manchester United and Chelsea that £50 million won't be enough to land Sergio Aguero. The Argentina international is sought-after property and has been linked with Manchester United as Sir Alex Ferguson looks to replace Cristiano Ronaldo. Inter Milan and Chelsea are also thought to be tracking Aguero, but Atletico have maintained that they do not want to sell. The Primera Liga outfit's president, Enrique Cerezo, has now announced that even a huge bid could not be enough to make the club consider parting with the 21-year-old. "Perhaps even if an offer for this amount of money (£51m) arrives, we would not accept the sale," Cerezo told Spanish media.

BlueLion. 21,491
If we were willing to offer amounts like £60 million for players like Torres and Shevchenko in the past, why not do the same now, for a striker who's best years are ahead of him?
