Vesper 30,224
Thomas Tuchel has spoken to Chelsea and wants to return to Stamford Bridge https://metro.co.uk/2024/05/21/thomas-tuchel-spoken-Chelsea-wants-return-20884356/ Thomas Tuchel is keen to return to Chelsea less than two years after leaving and feels he still has unfinished business at Stamford Bridge, according to reports. The west London club announced on Tuesday evening that they had parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino by mutual consent and have now begun the search for a new manager. A host of names are already in the frame to succeed Pochettino, from ex-Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi to Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna. But it could be a familiar face that takes over the reins, with Sky Sport Germany reporting that Tuchel is a ‘very concrete’ option. The 50-year-old was the first major casualty of Clearlake Capital’s ownership of Chelsea and was sacked on the 100th day of their reign, back in September 2022. Tuchel had clashed with the club’s owners during a tumultuous period of upheaval, but had won three trophies – including the Champions League – in the 20 months before that. He has had a difficult time at Bayern Munich, with the side only finishing third in the Bundesliga, and announced earlier this year he would leave the club at the end of the season. Bayern did make a last-minute attempt to convince Tuchel to stay, with his agent, Olaf Meinking, meeting with the club’s hierarchy last week. However, Tuchel confirmed that no agreement was found and Saturday’s 4-2 defeat to Hoffenheim was his final game: ‘There were talks, but we didn’t reach an agreement, so the decision of February still stands.’ Tuchel, who has also been linked with the Manchester United job should Erik ten Hag be sacked, is keen to return to the Premier League and Sky Sport Germany say he would welcome a return to west London. They even claim ‘relaxed discussions’ have taken place in the past few days, before a decision on Pochettino’s future had even been confirmed. Tuchel feels his task at Chelsea is ‘unfulfilled’ and can imagine himself returning to the club, though the Blues’ hierarchy may decide to go down a different route. Chelsea are thought to favour a young, progressive coach who plays attacking, possession-based football and that has seen them linked most heavily with Ipswich’s McKenna. Other names in the frame are Stuttgart’s Sebastian Hoeness – who actually pipped Bayern and Tuchel to second place in the Bundesliga – as well as Girona’s Michel and Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca. TheHulk 2,483
Not the end of the world, he was largely crap and couldn't even make the obvious changes without being forced by injuries, just hope it's not another English cuck. Realistically this clown Poch should've been sacked the minute he lost the Cup final against a bunch of kids. I'm okay with someone like De Zerbi if better managers aren't available now. Hang on hang on? The obvious changes? This good run started when Enzo got injured! Then he changed it up and started winning!! So do you mean to tell me all this time the signing you actually nearly emploded for was the obvious change that needed to happen?

Stop inventing things, he was playing Enzo under the syringes, he was playing that Sanchez even after his blunders, kept playing Disasi who everyone knew is crap. Winning 5 matches against more or less teams that had nothing to fight for means fuck all. When he played Arsenal he got smashed like nothing. Good riddance we got rid of him. Hopefully the next one isn't tactically inept as him. Edited May 21, 2024 by TheHulk ulvhedin

It was clear that Enzo, Gallgaher, Caicedo midfield mess is not working, and fact that Enzo had to be injured for Pochettino to change something is a big red flag for him. Also our supposed great run at the end of the season wasn't really so great - we were dominanted by Bournemouth and Notthingham (and Brighton but that's more due to James stupidity)

ZAPHOD2319 4,819
I would be happy with Hoeness or Tuchel. Tuchel is an implosion waiting to happen, but his attention to detail when he is all in, is pretty spectacular. We just need to make sure he has a solid life coach. I'm okay with someone like De Zerbi. Tuchel who is constantly linked & de Zerbi, who you mentioned will be tough to do for various reasons. I don’t think the owners/sporting directors will seriously consider Tuchel altogether and I think after Potter, de Zerbi will be a no go. Plus I cannot see either being completely open to no say in the market which is apparently a big mandate behind the new manager search as the owners believe the squad is already CL worthy squad - which is a bit laughable given some of the calibre of players we’ve got. Unless by some minor miracle that we actually make an elite level appointment, I think most people will be saying we will be in a worse place. I can see it if the majority of names we are linked with are seriously under consideration. The likes of Vincent Kompany, Kieran McKenna or Thomas Frank aren’t remotely close to the level of coach Poch is. And he’s not a top, top coach. If thats really the level we are aiming for, it will be tough.

Enzo was playing under pain killers for 8 months. If he didn't decide to have the surgery, Poch would've continued to play him. So everything you said is basically grasping at straws. You were twerking with Potter and Poch that they were gonna stay here for years in mediocrity but even the owners weren't so stupid to keep a couple sinking ships for more than a season because everyone with 2 eyes could see they were largely inept.
