OneMoSalah 8,886
So 3 managers in 1 season as it is with Bruno as interim. And will be 4 managers in 1 year of ownership under Boehly when FL comes in, then 5 when we appoint a long term manager. This guy will is a fucking shambles. Also if Frank knows he is only going to be here for 2 months, what does it really say about him and his aspirations to be a manager in the long run? A bit embarrassing on his end too - you think he’d be more ambitious and try get lined up with a full time permanent job that wont be 2 months long. I get jobs are tough at the minute but on both sides - its just very strange. He has no chance of being our full time manager. So why take it? Why give him it? He is clearly just eyeing the CL (maybe trying to prove something or thinks after seeing RDM or TT do it) but I had more belief in us winning it under Potter than I do with Frank returning. And the chances were close to non existent with GP. I am genuinely concerned - why gamble on the CL with somebody who got sacked here, sacked at Everton, mainly because they were easy to play against, conceded a lot from set plays and teams struggled to score goals….. Magic Lamps 11,692
From Lamps to Tuchel to Potter back to Lamps. Just can’t make this up. At the moment, I really wish Frank would never have taken on management. Many ppl will remember him more as a so-so coach than as one of the best players in football history. I respect the ambition but taking on PL jobs so soon has really been an obstacle to his managing career development. Slower, more tactical leagues such as Bundesliga or Serie A would have been better for him to take on after Derby where did a very decent job. let’s just hope for the best. In his first season with us he really outperformed expectations by getting us that 4th spot. Only when expectations rose pressure was too much and team went stale. Again expectations are not that high. Season is already a write off. The way his previous cup campaign have been going we surprisingly beat Real and City but lose to Napoli in the final. It's weird cause you have no idea what the manager landscape is like in the summer. But either way, plans can be made now, and the club could easily sign Nagelsmann or whoever on to start their job at the club from the summer. bluesman2610 1,421
This move is to appease fans.. bringing someone in who understands the “ culture” at Chelsea..under Lampard we were scoring goals we were also leaking lots of goals let’s Frank is smart enough to bring in JT too to help with organizing the defence also what I hope is that whatever manager that is coming in to start the season will have the remainder of this season to really watch the team and see how he’ll be able to improve them in the different phases of the game Edited April 5, 2023 by bluesman2610 mkh

DH1988 1,348
I have no words, if Frank hadn't been at Everton, I could possibly rationalise this in my head but we can kiss goodbye to the CL. My first thought was honestly "poor Enzo", if we don't get the summer managerial post correct then I can see him pushing for a move, rightfully, criminal to waste that talent. You can bet his biggest agenda next 7 and a half weeks will be to put Mount back on football map. If people in club are that stupid to listen to him we will not only extend him but buy Rice and bring back Abraham.

chelsea_4_eva 1,182
I mean I get why they decided to hire Lampard on short term before getting a new manager. Look at how much Potter probably cost us with the hire and fire, they probably don't want to make a rash decision. At the end of the day it is a business and they have to be smart about spending so much on managerial appointments, they don't want to make the same mistake twice. Hopefully they can make the best decision with the directors in place. As for the CL this season, well we have a history of winning it with an interim ex Chelsea player... you just never know, football is weird sometimes. sydneyblue and calculatingInfinity
Superblue 6,372
Whilst I'm lukewarm on Lamps returning, I do think there are a couple of key considerations amongst this decision which perhaps make it less shambolic than it looks on paper. The first is it's reported that Bruno doesn't want to stay here as the interim manager, he has agreed to it being under contract but he wants to leave and essentially is no different a voice to that of Potter. I believe he remained on out of respect to the club for the Liverpool game just to buy some time but not as a longer term option to the end of the season. The second is just look back through this forum. I don't think there's a truly obvious candidate at present. I think there's a couple of strong candidates in Nagelsmann and Enrique, and perhaps others too, but I think the board are completely in the right not to rush this decision on the basis of salvaging something from this season. They made a huge mistake by appointing Potter so quickly after dismissing Tuchel and not really considering other options properly. They won't want to make this mistake again. Making the right appointment for next season in my opinion is more important than this season's Champions League. With both of the above, you're left with an interim option and on top of that left in a position of who would be willing to take it. The situation isn't ideal, but the next appointment should not be rushed, it's vital we get it right and back on track next season. sydneyblue
