How is keeping Conte going to be a good thing? He acted immature throughout the season, constantly complaining, subliminally criticising his players and looked unmotivated and undeterred when we were struggling and needed inspiration. If we got Conte back from his first year here then i would be open to giving him another chance.

But he doesn't want to be at Chelsea, it's clear to see, and his primary motivation now is to be paid maximum by the club to walk. If we kept him, can we seriously risk the same Conte we have had this year leading the team and improving on last year's results? I'm not convinced.

And furthermore, even if the best happens with Conte ie gets everyone he wants, sorts his differences out and is so happy he signs a new deal, we'd be one meh window (which will happen at some point) away from him kicking up shit and acting like he's got Sunderland's squad all over again.

Im not even sure it would even be worth having 16/17 Conte back if the deal with the devil is he reverts to 17/18 Conte again before long, firstly because with Pep and City bang in their prime even having 16/17 Conte back likely still won't be enough for the title and i can't face last seasons Conte again, if last year was his only year i'd consider him on the level of Scolari, if not worse.

to the people saying we should keep conte, did you watch last season at all and the way we played? did you watch any of his press conferences where all he did was whine every time? have you followed all the displeasure the players voiced about him in various subtle and not so subtle ways? i just don't get certain fans on here...

Conte staying just isn't an option. Keeping Eden is more important at this moment in time, especially with Sarri available.

And if Hazard decides to leave anyway? What then?

Than hopefully we would do a liverpool level reinvestment and proceed business as usual. No one player is bigger than a club (messi excluded) not even hazard. But i think an aggressive offensive coach like Sarri + Madrid no longer being interested means we might get to keep Hazard and he will reach legend status with us. Pay him the wage he deserves, new 5 year deal. A jolt of confidence, 1-3 smart buys and a coach with momentum like Sarri and we are in business.

then we will have tried our best to keep him by signing a great attacking manager that a lot of Chelsea fans would have loved to have at Chelsea regardless of hazard situation and we will have gotten rid of conte, a negative, whining manager who doesn't seem to be able to motivate the team like he did in his first year...

sacking conte is the right thing to do regardless

Lets not kid ourselves reading between the lines I think it is obvious certain players are hoping Conte goes. First season Conte I'd happily keep, last seasons was just so miserable and his demeanour was of a guy desperate to get the boot

How do you rate Rugani ?

He is a sensational talented young defender though I don't know what went wrong with his development this past season... He was brilliant seasons ago then he was always a substitute player even the Italian media hyped him to be the next Maldini...the departure of Bonucci paved way for him to earn a starting role... Still young though under a brilliant he might live up his hype...

hi from a Napoli supporter

i'm very sad for the loosing of Sarri, he is a real football Maestro, I saw the best Napoli in 90 years of history of the club, better than Maradona's Napoli, with a decent but not exceptional team pushed over his limits by Sarri

I read that you talk about Napoli's player like extra technician players, and you think that Chelsea team cannot play Sarri's football

Sarri played the same football at empoli, in serie B, he only need player that follows him and and able to understand his needs, and he will push them at their maximum level

Sarri team is like a clock, every player has to be perfectly synchronized with the others, every play situations trigger an already prepared synchronized movement of the full team, so -if as I hope- you will hire him, you have to expect a slow start, the team will need to understand his football, and I think that Albiol and Rugani are fundamental for save some months and drive the full team in the beginning

I really wish the best for Sarri, his teams will be my teams, and I hope that you will win Premier League and compete for the Champions destroying Allegri and his fucking juventus

Great post, and it really is helpful and interesting to get insights and interpretations from oppostion fans on topics that they will be in a much better position to give their opinions on.

I am extremely intrigued by his way of football, because your club in the last couple of seasons have played some truly phenomenal stuff. What intrigues me possibly even more though is that he would rather coach and develop the players he has. No doubt we have the financial clout and pulling power to bring some players in, but I do feel there is a good chunk of untapped potential at the club already.

I would love for somebody to come in and further the development of the likes of Rudiger and Christensen, help RLC become the dominant presence in midfield that his attributes suggest he can become, and I would love someone to get even more output from Hazard and more out of Morata if he stays. By the sounds of it, Sarri would be an excellent choice of manager and I just hope that the board make the tough and somewhat expensive decisions to make this happen.

With current Chelsea board around, If Sarri has slow start, he will get sack before he can turn it around.

What makes you think that? The club gave mourinho every opportunity before sacking him and conte had all last season and still hasn't been sacked.

The club is clearly far more stringent nowadays with its finances and therefore making a fairly sizeable investment in sarri (release clause, wages, conte pay off), the board will want to get value for their money and will give him every opportunity to make sure that happens.
