The Next Manager?

Sampaoli has come out publicly to say no thanks. Next...

"My future depends on the elections for a new president [for the head of Chile's football federation], on January 4," he told AS.

"It depends on whether the new president likes our project.

"Before listening to offers, I will first present my new project for the Chile team. That is what I say to all the clubs who have contacted me."

Sampaoili never coached in Europe. You think our board would give him enough time to adapt to the league and country?

I don't believe Sampaoli is the right man for next season. I still believe next season, unless the man is Guardiola, Hiddink should stay longer to make the transition. Next season is the moment to rebuild a squad that was left unbalanced and lacking depth. The squad must recover from the lost of the likes of KDB, Lukaku, Luiz, Mata, Felipe Luis and Xurli.

But the team must competitive in the process and recover UCL football.

Sampaoli probably is not ready to take a club like Chelsea, but is good to hear him as an option because is an amazing coach, I think that in a couple years He could be coaching in Europa elite.

BTW, I'm concerned cause every day take more force the rumour of Pellegrini. I can't believe we really are thinking in that piece of mediocre while our direct rivals are thinking in sign the best coaches in the world.

Simeone has one of the best young teams in Europe in Atletico Madrid and he's in a position were he's not under a tremendous amount of pressure to fight for the league title. Atletico Madrid are by far the 3rd best team in La Liga and should come 3rd again with ease.

At Chelsea, he knows he will be under tremendous amount of pressure to succeed, regardless of what our board promise him. It will be CL-less football next season with a fairly unbalanced squad in a very competitive league. So, apart from the money, I don't really see what makes us so attractive to a guy like SImeone. He's better off staying with that young Atletico Madrid squad and building them to something truly something special than coming here.

I haven't read the thread but do you have a choice of manager? You wanted José out and you don't want Simeone so who are you hoping we appoint?

I will boycott every game for as long as that tosser Rodgers is in charge

It would be hilarious though wouldn't it? Hire the guy that the coach we just sacked exposed as an utter fraud.

As an aside, not known so many tickets to be available through people I know. Had THREE texts yesterday wanting to know if I wanted one for the match today.

What a joke we've become and whether you wanted Jose out or not, the problems at this club go way beyond whatever coach we hire.

13 years of Roman's ownership and the favourite for the job is Brendan Rodgers. He won't get Pep because Pep isn't stupid. He might get Simeone but I can't see him giving him the power he wants.

Continuing a thought in another thread, maybe a year in the Championship gives us a period to build properly. Pure fantasy but maybe we just give Frank Lampard the Director of Football role, and let him build a future for this club. He is one of the sharpest men we've had play for us ever, he knows every facet of a football club....it would never happen though.

Instead we'll appoint someone we won't back and fudge though the next few years.
