cosmicway 1,333
It seems to me that the defense stayed at home yesterday. Our attackers sometimes find the net (e.g. Madrid) sometimes not. The recent departures affected our defense mostly. The frontline is what it was, minus a Diego.

We looked exactly the same as our shit performances last season. Zero growth or improvement because as Tuchel said, it’s the same players. Werner, Havertz, Ziyech, and Pulisic look like the exact same 1 in every 5 games players. Batshuayi is still Championship quality. Chalobah still liable for at least 1 shocker of an error each match. Mendy likewise. There are no discernible attacking patterns or clear idea going forward which was clear as day to see with Arse. The exact same struggles we had as a team last season we have still. Struggle when pressed, struggle to string together passes, struggle to get attackers connected with the midfield. And the worst thing about all these deadwood players is that we’ve given them such huge wages that it’s seemingly impossible to shift them. Who’s going to want all these guys? Plus, even if we can by some miracle shift a bunch of them we’ve been so slow this window that we won’t get replacements in any time soon. There was a clear and pretty desperate appeal from Tuchel to Boehly for more quality additions. But who is there out there that can solve our goal scoring issues? Jesus would’ve been perfect for us… 😒 Feel it was a big mistake letting Marina and Petr go at the same time. Tuchel has said several times he's a coach first and foremost, and that he doesn't like working the transfers himself. We let those two go without any adequate replacement. For all her faults, Marina was pretty good at offloading unwanted players for reasonable prices. Not being able to get rid of these players is almost as bad as not being able to sign players, because they cost us a good chunk of money every week... Money that could be used on other players. Now these responsibilities lie solely on an inexperienced Boehly and a frustrated Tuchel, who can't anymore focus only on training and improving players, but has the burden of negotiating and managing other stuff that would have been normally managed by Petr or Marina. Not a good start for Boehly, he acted without a plan and fucked up. He got rid of two Tuchel's confidants that he liked working with and put extra pressure on TT. Vytis33 1,272
Some pretty pointed comments from Tuchel wow. Don't recall him ever sounding like that he's always been pretty diplomatic in his statements. Laylabelle

Getting rid of Marina/Cech to start from a clean slate is one thing. Doing it in a season where extensive repair is needed and piling additional responsibilities on the manager is another. If this ends up being the straw that causes Tuchel to up and leave, that would be infuriating. We have 2 weeks before the season begins and are short of at least one attacker and CB from the looks of things. My only hope is that in next week's friendly Tuchel puts together a team complete with first teamers (like @Superblue_1986 suggested), and at least THAT team can play with good cohesion. No more of Saar, Batshuayi or Emerson. Superblue and manpe 1

I now have to wear the scarlet badge for a week as a FB badge after losing the bet to my Arse buddy. 63,811 in attendance last night. We were at the red arrow. the Chelsea fan turnout was great.
