I dont think our board cares anything about Rice. They told Lampard to stop it about Rice. He was there all this window and he never looked his way.

I think reason why the board & Tuchel never went after Rice this summer was clear. Like Nizaar Kinsella and Liam Twomey said in the tweets above, Rice is not a player being bought as a 4th midfielder and currently that's what the club needs. Zero sense buying Rice for a huge fee and have him compete for playing time with the same three midfielders who just convincingly won the club the UCL title, two of whom are even tipped to be among the top5 in this years Ballon d'Or voting.

Last year the club already spent a HUGE amount of money on Werner, Havertz, Ziyech, Chilwell and Mendy so they told Lampard he can't have Rice too. Maybe the board weren't completely convinced by Rice at the time, and more importantly they weren't fully convinced by Frank himself so they were unwilling to pay a huge fee for a midfielder that the next manager might not rate. Now Rice had another stellar season and Tuchel got interested as well, but not enough to replace Kante, Jorginho or Kovacic who all performed really well.

I've said it many times that the time to get Rice is in 1-2 years, assuming he's still available by then, because without him signing a new contract at West Ham the price can't keep increasing forever and there will come a time when he'll have less time left on his current deal and West Ham will be forced to sell for a lower fee (still probably £60-70M but nowhere near £90-100M they seem to be demanding now). Kante is already 30 and Jorginho will be in a few months as well, so Rice could well be a long term target to get in later.

James can play there

Christensen

Mount

RLC

Chalobah

Kounde if he comes could be tried there

sounds to me like Tuchel really wanted Rice and is prepared to make do until next summer.

Even Ampadu. Not overly worried about CM 4

Squad is also stacked in attacking positions - Pulisic, CHO, Ziyech - one of them is going to find it hard to be in the XI without injuries

Credit to Marina/board tbh - lot of the dregs are out/on the way out. Striker is in. Some questionable deals like Guehi, Tomori but overall a good summer. A month ago people on her were constantly at it saying we're repeating 2017 all over again - its been nothing like it.

I'm against the signing at £60-70m, let alone £100m~. We shouldn't even think about entertaining such offers.

Tbh, if he has another top class season like the last one (and judging by the first game the other day he will) I definitely think someone will pay £85-100m for him, be it ourselves, City, or United. No reason for West Ham to sell for a pound less than Grealish since they’re similar situations. Multiple years left on their contracts, their best/most important player, and he’s very young + English.

He’s going to cost a bomb for sure. I can see us doing it if Kante has an injury ravaged season.

we have a huge advantage over them: he loves the club. so basically we can do a Bayern and just make him sit out his contract till at least 2023 to get a reduced fee.

So with Batshuayi and Abraham gone, it's now Marcos Alonso who has scored the most goals for Chelsea from the current squad (25 goals). 😆

Quite a difference to the next placed players too with Pulisic being at 18 and Jorginho/Mount both at 17, so Alonso will stay top for a good while longer too.

They have registered a net spend of just £1.5million so far this summer.

The Blues have only made two signings up until now with goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli arriving first on a free after leaving Fulham and Romelu Lukaku’s record £97.5m transfer from Inter Milan.

However, a total of nine players have been sold and earned Roman Abramovich's club £96m in the process to fund Lukaku's return.

That was the best part about that article haha basically lukaku cost is 1.5m

we are now over £96m incoming revenue due to some new loans and hopefully the following dregs are soon sold or loaned with obligation to buy

when the books are closed we are going to lose at least £100m on these cunts (counting t-fees and salaries we had to cover, minus loan lees and salaries covered)

Tiemoué Bakayoko
Ross Barkley
Danny Drinkwater
Abdul Rahman Baba
Davide Zappacosta

we also turned down numerous offers to buy all of them, because we stupidly thought we could get more (THAT category goes so far beyond just these 5 twats, and when the final books are closed on the 2016/2017 and onward fucked up deals, shit buys, refused sales, non buys that resulted in panic/poor buys, etc, will be close to £350-400m in total monies down the shitter (no, I am NOT joking) When the books are finally closed on them all, I will do a massive tally-up post. It will be head splitting, and it will NOT include Alonso, as he has overcome enough that I am now not writing of the £45m turn-down from Barca. Sometimes (it is rare with this time span) it cannot be claimed as a huge net loss.

Chelsea transfer round-up: Jules Kounde offer rejected as Jude Bellingham interest grows

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/Chelsea-transfer-news-kounde-bellingham-24778627

Chelsea are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to secure their first Premier League title since 2017 as they strengthen a playing squad that won the Champions League earlier this year.

The Blues have already bolstered in the position they needed most, with Thomas Tuchel not hesitating over the chance to re-sign Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan for just under £100m ten years after he first arrived at Stamford Bridge.

However, more arrivals are expected in West London as Chelsea aim to end the recent dominance of Manchester City and Liverpool over the Premier League.

Tuchel's is also keen to trim his bloated squad ahead of the new season and is expected to oversee a number of departures with just 14 days of the window left.

Tammy Abraham's move to AS Roma has been confirmed, pocketing the Blues a tidy £34m from the Serie A outfit, while Michy Batshuayi has joined Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas.

With that being said, here is Mirror Sport's Chelsea transfer round-up for Wednesday, August 18.

Chelsea have "strong" interest in Sevilla star

Chelsea are the latest club to pursue Sevilla central defender Jules Kounde, with The Guardian claiming the Blues hold a "strong" interest in the Frenchman.

The report claims that Chelsea have seen a number of proposals rebuffed by the La Liga outfit, but have not been deterred in their efforts and will continue to keep tabs on the star.

Kounde's situation has been monitored by a number of top clubs across the continent, including Chelsea's Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, though the centre-back is thought to favour the idea of moving to a club involved in the Champions League this season.

At just 22 years of age, Kounde is one of the most highly sought defenders on the continent, but Chelsea face a race against time.

One obstacle standing in their way could be his release clause, which is set to increase from £68m to £77m at the end of the window.

Zouma exit will impact incomings

Another stumbling block to Kounde's signature is that the deal could hinge on the future of Kurt Zouma, who is currently unable to find a new club despite being deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

West Ham were the side most heavily linked with a move for Zouma, who was thought to be keen on making the short move across London.

However, a deal has failed to materialise due to the Frenchman's hefty wage demands, as per The Sun.

The report claims that the 26-year-old is demanding a wage increase of around £40,000 to join David Moyes' side.

Zouma, who is currently on around £60,000 per week at Stamford Bridge, was reportedly demanding £100,000 per week from the Hammers.

If Chelsea fail to shift Zouma by the end of the month, a deal for Kounde or any centre back is unlikely to take place.

Chelsea set sights on Bellingham

Chelsea are weighing up the idea of making a shock late swoop for Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.

The 18-year-old has taken the Bundesliga by storm after he made the switch from boyhood club Birmingham City last summer, rejecting interest from Manchester United in the process.

The Daily Star claim that the teenage sensation caught the eye of Blues owner Roman Abramovich, who views Bellingham as a more than capable alternative to original first-choice target Declan Rice.

Bellingham became the youngest player to represent England at a European Championship in the summer and is considered one of the most promising midfielders on the continent.

Bellingham upping sticks to West London really would be quite the shock given his contract with Dortmund runs until 2025, meaning Chelsea would have to pay an eye-watering amount to prize him away from the Signal Iduna Park.
