I guess a Rice-Zakaria double pivot would give us immense protection and still be somewhat balance. Rice is a crisp passer who usually distributes the ball right after he wins it and Zakaria is basically a tall Kante who can carry the ballforward, roam around and destroy opposition counter attacks.

I don't think we will buy both. Rice will cost a lot of money and so will Zakaria.

So almost a whole new XI hmmm

Yeah plus quality back-ups, if others can do it so can we. You either plan well for the future or you can go and buy third rate players like Zappa Drinky Baka and the likes for immense amounts to boot. Before this summers tranfers we didnt have a good enough squad, its looking brighter now and we can and must do it again next summer. Then we will have a proper squad to challenge for them big trophies.

One of our German members told us some time ago that Zakaria would not be leaving Gladbach in the last window but could do next summer. I wonder if the 'placed' rumour is evidence that someone in his camp could be interested in trying to accelerate that to January? It must be said that German clubs tend to do what they say they'll do. You all may have better memories than me but I don't remember when last a German club said a player contracted to them would not leave in a window but he did anyway. Usually, if they say he stays, he stays.

Whenever it is that this bloke is on the move, I hope we'll join the bidding.

Zakaria and Upamecano are my two number one targets

my list is simple (not saying we move for every postion) I leave Rice out, no clue what we want to do with him (DMF? CB?)

GK

Oblak or Donnarumma (IF Mendy doesn't work out)

CB

we need to buy two of the following

Dayot Upamecano <<<< MUST Buy

+ José Giménez

or if not Giménez (manly due to his cost),

Matthias Ginter or Evan N'Dicka (left footed) or Edmond Tapsoba

LB/LCB (which alienates the 2nd CB buy above)

Theo Hernandez

DMF

Zakaria next summer for the cruncher DMF

plus Camavinga for the roamer, or if he is Real Madrid or Barca-bound (what everyone tells me)

then go for the next best things, Boubacar Kamara or Bruno Guimarães or Ismaël Bennacer or finally the last of those 4 for me in terms of my preference, Boubakary Soumaré

CMF  (not saying we buy any, but these following are amongst the only ones who interest me) <<< Camavinga can play here as well

Saúl Ñíguez

Aouar

Verratti

Ryan Gavenberch

Jude Bellingham

Agustín Almendra (20yo, soon 21yo from Boca Juniors)

RW

Gabriel Veron    18yo from Palmeiras

SS/Winger

Dybala

don't see us making moves for Sancho or Håland or (obviously) Mbappe

Paulo Dybala on Blues radar following Juventus role

This for sure, would help us greatly. But I dont see us getting Dybala, he is either RM or Barca bound, where would he game here anyway. I guess it could work if we chuck Kai in midfield and put Dybala at 10 position, but very risky.

4 4 2 as a change up option

Mendy

Thiago (for his last year) with Theo Hernandez as his backup/rotation and also backup LB

Upamecano with Tomori as backup

Chilwell

Reece  Azpi

Double Pivot  Zakaria and Camavinga

AMF/CMF Kai and Ziyech (Kova when we need a more robust presence)

SS Dybala CF Werner

Puli and Gilmour and Mount and Tammy and CHO as needed

You rate Camavinga above Rice Vesper, havent seen much of him to be honest so cant judge.

different types of players

Camavinga is a unique player

super athletic and technical

can play almost anywhere

would not be shocked it he was a cracking left fullback as well

but for sure he can play

DMF (both trad and deep holding)

Roaming destroyer in a double pivot (like Kante, but Camavinga is bigger, far better passer, far better shooter)

CMF

AMF

RMF and LMF

RW/LW (he is left footed but almost ambipedal)

hell Rennes even played him a false nine for a spell in one game I saw

Rice would be a partner for Camavinga (ie taking Zakaria's place, UNLESS Rice is moved to CB <<< a Rice and Upamecano CB pairing could be amazing in theory)
