As with GK, I think the club are fine with the CB options we have for another season but everyone outside of Colwill is probably auditioning for their long term future again. We’ll go big for a star CB next summer if needed. Or maybe Anselmino/Mamdou Sarr have outstanding seasons out on loan and are ready for the first team.

No matter how good of a season any of them has. At best they can fight for a rotation spot. The starting spot can be win by Fofana(manages to stay fit), Chalobah(given the chance and being consistent) and a new star CB next summer. I think we will sign only one more defender(Hato hopefully) and one more attacker(one of the many we have been linked with) this season.

In my head I am completely disregarding the GK situation now, do not think we will go again for a new keeper. I think they trust Sanchez massively and can see him being his usual self for the first part of the season and then us realizing he isn't good enough, and then panic buying in January.

If that happens Maignan will be cheap as fuck in January with just a couple of months left on contract.

Yep. Think the plan is to hope Sanchez is solid for this season and also hope Penders replicates Peteović at Strasbourg. Then we can flip Sanchez next summer and bring back Penders as our #1.

Crazy this rumor is flaring up again. I remember being very lukewarm and skeptical when we first brought him back from Palace. But he has been excellent for the most part and clearly loves playing here.

Only scenario I can think of making sense is if we are near the deadline and still haven’t been able to to shift Nkunku/Jackson/deadwood and we’d have Trev as an emergency option to cash in on.

No chance should we just sell him based on anything else. Especially not because of Fofana who may miss 90% of the season as he always seems to.
