I am genuinely not bothered in the slightest seeing these Delap to United advancing reports. This would probably sound like sour grapes to a United fan, but I think he will massively underwhelm there just like their last two striker signings Zirkzee and Hojlund. I think his work rate and tenacity will be an improvement for them but in terms of putting up actual numbers I don’t see it. 

I’d be very happy if they got him rather than Osimhen as was rumored.

Osimhen is 26 and had 2 good seasons, one of them in a dogwater league... Is there a particular reason people are acting as if he is a surefire thing?

Guiu doesn't really belong in this. Sure he is raw but he has been OK when he has played was showing signs he may kick on. Getting injured when he did was incredibly unfortunate. 

That said, he should've been brought as CF3 with development minutes in the youth teams and/or loaned. Not our CF2 - although I do think Nkunku was thought to be able to contribute there. However, you're right in that Neto is the only player that made sense and he should've been followed by more established players.

Final green light still needed to proceed and seal the deal with the player’s camp.

It would be the biggest choke job in as long as I can remember if United fail to beat Spuds. 

Annoys me quite a bit that after having a hugely embarrassing season these bastards are going to get UCL football to bail them out and use as a springboard to refresh their squad with much better players. 

I respect Amorim still and think with a nice squad overhaul they’ll bounce back up to being decent next season.

People are making it seem like we're 7 to 8 decent signings away from competing, but in reality, we are a few good signings away from pushing up the top. A top quality CF and a defensive signing or two. 

I know people don't like Sanchez, but I feel even he will look a lot safer with better defenders in front of him as well. 

I could play devil's advocate and say, we were a win off being top of the league in December to potentially missing out on CL football entirely. There are key components to building a balance squad that are missing - Reliable GK, WC CB, and WC WF/CF. Those three are effectively what won the title for Liverpool.

If I am to believe everything that is written, we won't be addressing any of those areas with the level of quality required. Estevao could potentially "take to water like a duck", but I highly doubt it given his age & physique.

Spurs have beaten United thrice in the season and have their CBs Romero and Van de Ven back fit. United are not favorites for me.

Enzo Maresca starting to have serious doubts about Nicolas Jackson’s Champions League credentials

Enzo Maresca was also disappointed with Jackson following his dismissal at St James Park, and it looks like the Chelsea manager has some concerns about the £32m striker.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, Maresca does not think Jackson can lead Chelsea into the Champions League and help elevate them.

On Si Phillips Talks Chelsea, he said: “Jackson is appreciated by Chelsea for sure, but we have heard the reality is that the club, as well as Enzo Maresca, just do not see him as being the main striker to lead the club into the Champions League and elevate them, if they get it of course.”

Jackson is actually yet to play in the Champions League, and his lack of consistency and reckless sending off may be what ends up costing Chelsea a place in the competition.

 

He finishes the season with just 10 league goals after scoring 14 last term, going on a run of 13 games without finding the back of the net between January and April.

With Jackson suspended for Chelsea’s final two fixtures of the Premier League campaign, Maresca may have to use Tyrique George up front.

Chelsea could sign Jonathan David to support Nicolas Jackson

It has become quite obvious that Jackson needs some help, which is where Lille’s Jonathan David comes in.

In January, it was reported that David was eyeing a pre-contract agreement with another club, and the 25-year-old is now going to have to sign one if he wants to play football next season.

David has confirmed that he is leaving Lille on a free transfer when the campaign finishes, and Phillips has claimed in his Substack post that Chelsea are considering bringing him in.
