We’ve just bought Garnacho and Gittens and I don’t think there’s a chance in hell we give up on either of them any time soon. Neto and Estevão on the other wing and they’re going nowhere any time soon. We’ve got Quenda & Emegha coming in next summer for depth already.

Splashing huge cash on Yildiz or Rodrygo who I keep seeing us linked with feels like the last thing we’d do or even need. No space whatsoever for another winger.

Any and all attention over the next 2 windows should be about an elite CB and another elite deeper midfield body to replace the always broken Lavia.

They might offload Neto if a good offer comes in.

Would be nice to get a clear upgrade but everyone from the manager to the hierarchy seem to genuinely love Sanchez. And tbf, since the United catastrophe he has been solid. I don’t think there’s a chance we buy a new keeper at this point and will wait for the young kid to be  ready.

Like Sanchez, Maresca seems to really love Neto. He’s a manager’s dream winger in that he’s good both attacking and tracking back. I can’t see us wanting to sell and I don’t think any club out there would be willing to pay the huge price it would take anyways.

Don’t think any wide attackers will be on the agenda until at summer 2027. At that point if Gittens for example still hasn’t blossomed and Neto hasn’t produced enough we can look for upgrades.

Manchester United are understood to be preparing a January transfer window move for one of the most exciting players in the country at the moment.

I’m talking, of course, about Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, and not for the first time either, as I reported here last month about Man Utd’s growing interest in the Ghana international.

Ruben Amorim has long been keen to bring Semenyo to United, with Duncan Castles notably reporting that the Portuguese tactician actually met with the player in the summer to discuss a move.

It didn’t happen on that occasion, with Bournemouth understandably demanding big money for Semenyo, but the sense now among well-connected sources in the industry is that the Red Devils would be prepared to make a big offer for the 25-year-old this January.

Speaking to one source familiar with United’s plans for the upcoming winter window, it certainly sounds like they’re going to be the main name to watch for Semenyo’s signature.

However, multiple sources also mentioned names like Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City to me.

“United’s scouting department have been tracking Semenyo for some time now and there’s strong interest,” one source said. “They want to move fast to anticipate competition from Liverpool in particular, as well as Arsenal and Man City.”

The source added that a bid of “around £65m” looks likely to be “on the table” for Bournemouth this January, though it remains to be seen if the Cherries would accept that or insist on quite a lot more.

How much is Antoine Semenyo worth?

Semenyo is arguably worth a lot more than £65m, with Bournemouth perhaps likely to look for £80m or more, though this has been unconfirmed yet.

For now the main thing to factor in is that Bournemouth will most likely push not to sell at all, with Andoni Iraola’s side surely set to aim to keep Semenyo until the end of the season at least.

Still, we also know that Bournemouth sold players this summer as big names like Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez left the club, so they are a side who tend to cash in on their best players if the money’s right.

He may not always produce the numbers, stats-wise, however he does a lot of defensive work for the team and this season is offensive output has improved. Is already on 3 goals and 2 assists in the league. He only got 4 league goals last season, so is well on course to get his best ever tally. Forest, West Ham game he was fantastic and also thought he was quality against Benfica too. Think he is a very good player to have around. I actually prefer him on the right but equally he is good on the LW too.

It really depends upon how the manager sets up the attack next season with Quenda and Emegha (if thats how you spell his name) joining. 

Neto is a solid player to have but if there was serious Saudi money on the table....the club may sell to help balance the books.

We paid twice as much as these combined on this set of bums Sterling, Mudryk, Badiashile, Disasi, Sanchez, Filip, Delap, Fofana, Lavia, not to mention the many others who are questionable like Pedro, Gittens, Garnacho so not like they are filling themselves with glory.

The full-back role is perhaps the best bellwether for football’s constant change.

The full-back ‘meta’ has shifted significantly in a short space of time: as soon as the inverted versions became a mainstay at the top level, the traditional flyers were back in fashion. That means a full-back that can do both is of heightened value.

Givairo Read can do both. He can move beyond the ball, manipulating width to provide depth and development in a more traditional method, and also progress and penetrate as a passer from behind the play, tucking inside in build up. In terms of contemporaries and compatriots, the Feyenoord right-back offers a fleet-footedness that compares to Jeremie Frimpong and a sturdiness that is reminiscent of Jurriën Timber. Granted this is for the future but this guy is getting a lot of hype from Ecuador. 

I'm still surprised that Ecuador out of nowhere are producing top players. Kind of remind of Belgium with their golden generation. Seems like that is right now with Ecuador.

I just don't see how Chalobah/Tosin/Josh/Fofana is enough to get us top 4 this season.   A defender in January would be ideal.

Cant be any worse than Tosin. People laughed when I said that last season too but Tosin has been found out as the second coming of Titus Bramble. And another 16 years old who is apparently “best CB talent” someone has seen. Great. He’ll be playing for Grimsby in 5 years probably.

I know we don’t need wingers but would be devastated if we aren’t in the running for Semenyo. Looks really exciting. Suppose 25 years old probably makes him too old anyway but would’ve been a better signing than both Gittens & Garnacho. Oh well.

Probably goes to City or Liverpool & tears it up. Even if he went to United think he’d do well - particularly after the output & performances they’ve got with Cunha & Mbuemo, PL proven players giving them much more than most expected, ok goals maybe lacking from Cunha but I think you see the all round ability is there. Mbuemo has really impressed me his physicality, dynamism & work rate.
