Unless we get an ironclad obligation to buy a loan just fucks us over once again. Next summer he’s a year older and if he plays like shit on loan he’s even harder to shift than he has been this summer. And it has already been nearly impossible.

He has burned every bridge possible. Pissed off just about every club he has played for and also pissed off numerous clubs that he hasn’t played for. Next summer our options could come down to Saudi or terminating his contract. And this asshole could really fuck us over yet again by refusing Saudi another time.

So a straight loan to Roma is a poor outcome even if they pay his whole salary.

The club isn't terminating his contract with 2 years to go (as of next summer).

Straight loan to Roma at least covers his wages for a season and who knows, if Jose can motivate him a bit, someone else may sign him next summer for a decent fee (we'll make a massive loss but hopefully we can recover some book value for FFP).

For me, he actually looks a more exciting prospect than Madueke. He was obviously very raw in pre-season but he looked eager to impress and learn from Potch. Could be one to run though walls for the gaffer.

Santos, Gabriel & Maatsen all impressed in pre-season but two of them are out on loan and the latter could be sold to make a profit for FFP.

Like the planning suggests, we are better ready and equipped for 2024-25 than the current season.

Not interested at £80m in Jan tbh. That's MAYBE his summer transfer window value coming off of a full, good season where he's scored 20+ goals. Not his Jan value after a lengthy ban with zero training.

I would think £50m + some serious performance related add ons (maybe up to £15m?) would be sensible.

Other clubs will be in for him. Won't go for a sensible price

Ivan Toney is nowhere near an £80m striker and we’d be insane to pay that. Even in our current era of dramatically overpaying for players that would be crazy.

Think £45-50m for an established English striker would be fair. But for £80m you should be looking at a truly special footballer which Toney ain’t.

Kudus to Westspam.

This years competition in the PL is ridiculous. Teams like Villa, Brighton and West Ham would be disappointed if they finish 8th or 9th tbh. The top 10 is closer to each other than ever before.

I see Toney is on the cards. All for it but not for 80m... he may be worth that without the ban but with it being a factor there needs to be a discount.

£80m is a shit tonne for a player who turns 29 in the winter of next season
