Elite goal scorers? who? 😅 Last one I remember was Diego Costa.

Partially agree with the second: not enough options on the wings. Completely dependent on Sterling to regain some kind of form, or it will be a long season.

For all their flaws in their overall game both Sterling and Auba have an excellent scoring record down the years.

On paper those two alone should have added 30-40 goals but we barely got to that figure as a team, which is why I laugh when I see comments like "get in a number 9 and some proven PL players" like we haven't already tried it to disastrous results (hopefully 'so far' in Sterling's case).

Looks like burned bridges with Palace because of Olise. This may collapse as well.

Thankful he signed a 6 year deal. I'd prefer he goes to Palace because gametime looks more secure

Where did you find another buy and only 2 slots?

Mudryk, Sterling LW

Olise, Madueke RW

nkunku will play also as a winger

he played and he played well in that position in our pre season

I read that poch want 2 more players to our attack

if olise is one, we will buy another and there are too many players for 2 positions ( ok nkunku will and can play behind jackson but still...) its too much

Is there a 30+ year old striker out there somewhere who is still clinical and hungry to challenge themselves at a top club? We could do with that even if it’s a loan. That way we can have a stopgap and then reassess the striker market a year from now.

I Know this handsome Frenchman that Lampard 1.0 needlessly cast to the side until he finally left.

Yeah, Oli would be perfect if he was 3-4 years younger. There’s gotta be someone similar to him when we bought him out there for us.

That goes down to personal preference, and age too: never rated Auba--way too lazy for the PL--and had already lost some of hit pace when he left Arsenal. I was 100% against signing him from day 1.

Sterling made some sense, and I still expect him to deliver in a working system. He already took his much needed break from Pep's demanding system. With Nkunku playing on the left, Sterling would need to close down and do what Mount used to do.

My issue is cover. I think the alternatives are either (so far) complete flops or complete unknowns.

Last summer we signed two elite goalscorers and ended up with our worst scoring season in nearly a century.

Sort the system and the goalscoring will take care of itself.

Granted there will be good days where everything is clicking and we will blow teams off the park. But then there will be one of these days where we look like drawing to Burnley and you need a natural finisher to somehow shin one in  at the death for a scrappy undeserved 1-0. And the latter  are the days that win you titles . Without this ability of a good goalscorer to paper over the below par performances that will surely come down the line  you can forget about ever winning the title.

Sterling is apparently washed up and Auba was already past that. 99% on here had called that he was guaranteed to fail. I did not say we should get a proven PL player or no. 9. It is a terrible market for strikers. Only 10 players last season scored more than 20 goals - in all European leagues. Absolutely crazy. we should accept there are no elite goal scorers available that would bring us forward right now.
We should stick with what we have and hope for some of our attackers to discover their goalscoring instincts. My point is we should not expect anything extraordinary from this young squad as they are yet to demonstrate any meaningful scoring impact. We have to be patient. It will be 3-5 years till we can challenge for the league title again. But we might be able to nick top5 and  a few cups here and there.
