He reminds me of Tetley (Tete) had a great season at Norwich we were going to sign him, didn't then he had a shocking 2nd and 3rd season and faded into obscurity... I genuinely hope I'm wrong though- would love to finish 2nd above Arsenal, shut those mugs up, then they can focus back on battling the spuds to 4th place... I just can't see anyone toppling City. (Haven't checked the results, probably been thrashed by Burnely). Stopped watching after Haalands second -re the Ecuadorian, never really watched him and I know you cant judge on Youtube show reels but he does look the bollox. All rounder like Kova but can score a few as well. Muzchap

This is ridiculous, with all the money spent we are likely not even favorite to finish in the top 4. This feels like post SAF United, where we are just spending without getting better. It really does feel like post SAF Utd. Esp bc our owners too are clueless Americans. The money we spend under the new ownership would have indeed made us favourites for league and CL a few years back. Actually the 1.5b Roman spent on us gave us 5PLs and 2CLs while chopping and changing managers and systems all the way. Since then football economy has inflated even more. Look at the salaries and commercial revenues in NFL and extrapolate this to the 10x popularity of football. Then you know what the future holds in the eyes of Todd and co. That’s why we spend so much on predominantly very young players on endless contracts. By their market expectations these investments will look cheap in the long term if fees get even more inflated. Utd on the other hand also spent loads on players like Varane or Casemiro who were meant to have an immediate impact. DH1988 1,350
This will be coined as LFC making us overpay for Moises and we are, if the player would stick to only Chelsea narrative then Brighton would have to accept lower, though they’d drag it out until deadline day Im sure. The whole debacle is just unreal, the only positive is that players have wised up to Brighton now eg. Kudus Muzchap and NikkiCFC 1

Vesper 30,235
https://sempremilan.com/cm-milan-caicedo-2m-Chelsea-liverpool AC Milan had the chance to sign Moises Caicedo three years ago in what would have been a bargain deal, and now he is heading for a nine-figure move. Caicedo is currently at the centre of a transfer saga involving Chelsea and Liverpool. As per Sky, he has rejected the chance to join the Reds and wants to move to the London club, despite Liverpool agreeing a €120m deal with Brighton. Brighton set a deadline of midnight on Thursday for bids to arrive and they accepted Liverpool’s offer as it was higher, but when Caicedo was expected to travel to Liverpool for a medical on Friday, he told the Seagulls he wants to honour his word to Chelsea. “The fee with the club is agreed,” confirmed Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on Friday. “We will see what that means. We aren’t a club with endless resources and we didn’t expect a couple of things to happen this summer. Then it happened.” Brighton signed Caicedo for £4.5m (around €5.2m) from Independiente del Valle in 2021, but he could have actually been a Milan player. According to Daniele Longo, it was back in 2020 that Milan could have signed Caicedo for €2m when the scouting department – led by Geoffrey Moncada – recommended him to Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara. The two directors didn’t feel like making that investment at the time and now he will leave Brighton for a figure believed to be around £110m. Isn’t it highly likely that we only need top 5 bc of the new CL reform? I think 4th place is a stretch but for top 5 Newcastle is our closest rival with spuds now out of the running. So that should be doable. Muzchap

I think Man United and Newcastle will both underwhelm compared to last season. Those are the two we should be targeting if we get the last couple of players we need. Especially once both are in the thick of UCL season and have to rotate and prioritize certain matches whilst we’re fresher and solely focused on the PL. Unless we pull some magic out of the hat late in this window and sign another reliable goal scorer I think City, Arse, and maybe even Liverpool are probably beyond us this season. Simply because all 3 of those sides can score goals at will from 3-5 different attackers. We should fancy ourselves against anyone else if we sign Caicedo and Lavia. A lot can change over a summer, 21/22 Chelsea probably finish 2nd in last season's league. Not to mention, Arsenal and United will both be fielding a bigger culprit to our 12th place finish than we will most weeks 🤣 36 minutes ago, Pizy said: Yeah, if we sign Caicedo then there should really be no excuses not to finish a minimum of 4th. That being said, even if we do margainly miss out I hope not too much blame is put on Poch if the advanced metrics are pointing to sustainable progression. As boring as the football was that season, we'd be in a much better place currently if Sarri stayed, it was very sustainable as he showed before and since. No Europe is definitely a plus which should give us the edge esp in October/November where our first harder games come up as well as late in the season when fatigue kicks in. but this is all worth 0 if our mostly unproven attack does not begin scoring. We need Jackson to deliver big time in Nkunku's absence, Mudryk to finally start scoring etc. But overall it seems worrying how the gap to Arsenal and City has increased so massively. Despite all of our investments we are unable to attract the absolute best that would immediately transform us back into title candidates. If you think of the money we spend, could we have used that all to make a bid for e.g. MBappe or Bellingham? Surely. But would they choose to come here? Probably not. Then there are those older ones who would have probably joined for enough money but would have only helped us in the short term like Neymar or Messi. I think more important than investing in the squad will also be to set up an elite sporting infrastructure and operation, to become a world class organisation again with stability in all the key areas to even constitute a believably ambitious project that attracts the absolute world class talent.
